Weeks 26 and 27 - The Championships, Wimbledon (grass) - men's singles

The Dutch WC takes the second set vs Novak, 1-1. Still just about time for someone to win 2 sets, but they'll struggle to get this finished this evening with the 11pm curfew.

What a stupid scheduling decision to have the centenary celebrations so late .

They were lucky that Heathers match was just two sets and their luck might run out if this match doesnt finish tonight.

It would have been OK if they had scheduled two women's matches and one men's on Centre today rather then 2M and 1W. If they had any sense they would have swapped over the Djokovic and Jabeur matches.

who is the east European guy on commentary ? Dont recognise the voice ?

Hardly eastern European:  I believe it's Feliciano López.  wink

 Thick accent then!

More like typical Brit cloth ears = inability to differentiate between the accents of people from other, non-English speaking countries.

 that's a bit rude!

But true!   wink  Most Brits just don't care about other languages & I find that unutterably sad.  cry

That was rude to Jon there SC.

As for your comment about languages - true but that's rather political because it starts with schooling and having the resources to learn languages.

The whole 1.30 start thing needs looking at. Kyrgios v Nakashima could easily be 3 hours. Thats 4.40 finish. Halep and Badosa could be 2 hours; so we are at 7 pm and Nadal starting at 7.15. Should be ok to finish by 11 but its all a bit tight.

Plus Wimbledon have previously insisted that the roofs are for contingency, if it rains or matches go on long, but that Wimbledon is essentially an outdoor event.

However, some scheduling, particularly today on Centre, has the look of the roof being a necessity to get the schedule completed

The crowds tend to rather like the roof closing but it's not supposed to be a standard thing.

Wow!  Garín:  2-6 5-7 7-6(4) 6-4 7-6(10-6)!    No doubt the match would still be in play if the final set (match) tie-break rule hadn't been introduced...

I'll have a go.

They shouldn't put Djoko vs Sinner on centre.

I found that quite easy.

Though there were probably one or two earlier marrhes that Djoko could have been more moved off Centre and Cam onto Centre before building to the disparity that they will have now.

A very controlled Nick K out there today, apart from the lapse at end of the fourth. Solid, not spectacular.

Nick v Garin - any QF is tough but I would fancy Nick to win it

Nick K should beat Garin, however I dont think de Minaur has ever lost to Garin before. Always exciting to get an upset (unless its a Brit losing of course)

Djoko v Sinner
Cam v Goffin

Nick K v Garin
Fritz v Nadal or BvdZ

Love him or loathe his unpredictability Nick has a phenomenal serve and was the better player on centre court today.
