Weeks 26 and 27 - The Championships, Wimbledon (grass) - men's singles

Kyrgios looked v good in winning today, very comfortably as well.

Tsitsipas looking like he has learned how to play grass now as well. In control over Thompson.

These would play next I believe - that is Centre Court all over it for Saturday

As previously discussed with the Djokovic / Raducanu / Murray Monday and Wednesday Centre Court doubling up, I'm not personally that bothered about a fair degree of repetition on Centre Court and giving the Centre Court crowds the big names, though yes at least one match away for all at some point seems very reasonable.

And here I most certainly do see the case for Kyrgios vs Tsitsipas being on Centre rather than Sonego vs Nadal ( the opening 2 matches are Gauff vs Anisimova and Badosa vs Kvitova ).

That's all 3 rounds so far for Nadal while Tsitsipas will have played on Court One all 3 times ( Kyrgios previously played on Court 3 then Court 2 ). If ever they were going to swap Nadal over to Court One these particular R3 matches surely called out for it?! One match as Jon says has Centre Court all over it, and one doesn't. A potentially very interesting slugfest after the two women's matches.

I wonder if Wimbledon have baulked at putting Mr Kyrgios on Centre, especially on middle Saturday when traditionally so many of the supposed great and good are in attendance?

Yes I am on centre tomorrow and am a bit disappointed with the scheduling. Would have preferred a Kyrgios/Tsitispas clash over Nadal and at least one of the Brits but overall not too bad a programme.

Yes agreed! bit of a first world problem though!

btw late to the party but well done Cam - didnt see any of it but delighted that he has got that monkey off his back (if I am still allowed to say that - apologies if I am not) and think he has an interesting match up with Tommy Paul on Sunday.

I had a quick look at today's order of play and saw Mr Broady on scheduled on Court 1 at 1PM, I didn't understand!  I watched parts of his match against Schwartzman but went off to do something else after he'd lost 8 games in a row. It really is no fun to see one of your favourite players get so badly duffed up. I'm so happy for him!

I wish Liam good luck today. The quality of hitting in the first half of the Draper v. de Minaur match was some of the best I've ever seen. Liam will need to avoid such a slugfest today.

There is someone on TF that actually wants to switch his No.1 Tx for Centre today. I initially laughed and though 'No chance' but then I saw the OOP

Court one today from a British perspective is almost perfect to me. Brit underdog with a genuine chance, womens world number one and tournie favourite, two of the most entertaining players in the world with a genuine dislike for each other .

Its quite mouthwatering really.

Van de Zandschulp though turns it round in the first set. From *2-5 down to taking it 7-5.

Liam under way, on serve *2-3

I hope he can give it his best even if that may not be be enough against AdM.

Looking solid so far - not overawed at all. Liam made of strong stuff. Feel this could be close. Dont expect him to win at all but hope he can get a set

Well, Jon put the mockers on Gasquet So Liam was next up biggrin

Seriously, I think Liam is playing a good, honest match - he's got a few bits of great tennis, a big chunk of very solid tennis, and just a few wombat moments

He knows that any opponent can go AWOL slightly - and he has to stay in contention, to try and be there is if happens

He's playing well....

I think for Liam his rise had hit a little plateau. This weeks efforts
Must give him a boost to really push on. I hope In his case he plays Newport as he could do well there and stick in the USA for the hardcourts . I think hes done for Atlanta ?
