There are many years and Wimbledons to come for young Jack.

Lovely graciousness from both Jack and Alex, shaking hands at the end of the match and Alex clapping Jack off. And Alex both complimentary to Jack and mentioning Katie's win in his interview. Two lovely young men.

TA forecast that Djoko will take the title over Berretini.

In terms of Brits:

Andy, Cam, Ryan, Dan are forecast to win their opening matches - so, 4 wins like the women's side. The percentages suggest 4.6 wins in fact, could argue that is closer to 5!

Dan is rated as the most likely winner with 0.8% chance, Andy is 0.7% and Cam is 0.6%

Andy and Cam are both forecast for the last 16 ,Dan for the last 32. So that would give us 9 wins overall in the mens singles, added to 4 in the womens - 13 overall.

I suspect many of us think there is more chance of wins than TA is forecasting, sorry Jeff, I hope you are proven wrong!!!

So weve actually reached 8 mens wins and 6 womens, with 2 singles players left in both. So we look like we have so far outperformed what TA forecast for us.

Our first man through to the last 32:

L64:  (9) Cameron Norrie WR 12 defeated Jaume Munar (ESP) WR 71 by 6-4 3-6 5-7 6-0 6-2

Strange match!  Munar another noisy bugger!  furious  Played some good stuff in the second & third sets, though, while Cam wasn't exactly at his best.  A bit more consistency & Munar might have had Cam!

L32:  (9) Cameron Norrie WR 12 vs Steve Johnson (USA) WR 93

Had to go out at 3, when Liam was on the skids in the third set.  By the time I reached the office, he'd taken the match to a fifth set & both Katie & Heather had won!  Found out that he'd won while I was eating my pre-Barbican-concert pizza with a friend.  Absolutely thrilled for all of them!   ban-woohoo.gif  Found out about Jack when I reached home about 50 minutes ago.  cry

So, to sum up today's developments:

L64:  (WC) Liam Broady WR 132 defeated (12) Diego Schwartzman (ARG) WR 15 by 6-2 4-6 0-6 7-6(6) 6-1  jump.gif

L64:  (19) Alex de Miñaur (AUS) WR 27 defeated Jack Draper WR 94 by 5-7 7-6(0) 6-2 6-2

Throw-away fact:  apparently, de Miñaur is Katie's boyfriend.

For the sake of completeness:

L64:  (11) Taylor Fritz (USA) WR 14 defeated (WC) Alastair Gray WR 288 6-5 7-6(3) 6-3

*****

L32:  (19) Alex de Miñaur (AUS) WR 27 vs (WC) Liam Broady WR 132

Just 16 seeds left in at the last 32
Stage. Only 6 of them top 16 seeds.

She was there watching but was out of her seat and gone before either one of them had got back to their bags so she missed his comment.

IMHO experience showed, plus the fact that Jack had only ever gone beyond 3 sets once before (and let's face it,those 3 sets he lost to Djoko last year went by pretty fast!). Still a lot of work to do with regards to his physical conditioning, stamina and ability to sustain a high level over 4 or 5 sets.

But - lots to be excited about for the future!

Katie's face in the crowd was an interesting study I thought - she seemed to me to have mixed emotions when clapping for ADM wink

I was sitting quite near her and I'd agree with that. AdM played so well. I watched him play Korda last year too, Hard to break down, always makes his opponent play another point and hits the ball surprisingly hard for such a scrawny body  Jack didn't appear to change the pace when he kept getting the ball back with interest and often the rally would end with an unforced error from him.  A few more matches of this quality will do him the world of good.

and Van Rijthoven is the first player through to the last 16 with a 3 sets victory. One to watch over the hardcourt season I would suggest

I see that Jack Sock got the better of Maxime Cressy in four:  6-4 6-4 3-6 7-6(1).
