Flashback to JonH's summary from 2019

2019 Predictions thread

2015 - 26 (comprising 9 MS, 2 WS, 9 MD, 4 WD, 2 XD)

2016 - 31 (comprising 9 MS, 2 WS, 8 MD, 4 WD, 8 XD)

2017 - 40 (comprising 7 MS, 7 WS, 7 MD, 2 WD, 17 XD)

2018 - 36 (comprising 2 MS, 3 WS, 14 MD, 4 WD, 13 XD)

And the other two years were

Thanks CD, yes, I remembered Id done this when I woke up this morning!

so 38 so far is good but in the range. It feels like getting more

than 40 though is entirely possible and would be a record , at least recently

 Not me, jonny boy biggrin

Well done for finding the figures, the addict

So, we've got 40 to beat?

Let's go, GB !

(I think it shows though that the scale for Wimbledon should maybe be changed for the poll? You've got 31+ as the highest guess, but it's usually 31 or more. So maybe group together the lower end guesses? Or something to extend the top end.....)

Yes, sorry TA! I did mean TA, its those two letter names that get me!

And Yes, CD. I knew I had made an error there right at the start and commented early doors - clearly way out on the scale!! Memo to self for next time!

You could probably group the 0-20 and 21-25 which would give plenty of room at the top end. Depends how optimistic we are when it comes around again, and how our rankings look !

And how many entries, wasn't it a record number of MD singles entries 17?

I think that makes broad sense. We discussed it before I recall but a) I forgot and b) I hadnt intended to do this anymore , FW I think picked it up for one or two events.

if I can muster the energy Ill do it for US open though !

You might want to ask people - or look back at the stats for those (no rush )

I think Wimbledon needs a different scale from all the others - the wildcards, for dubs and mixed too, means there's always more chance of high numbers for Wimbly - and maybe people are more optimistic for that too.

I'd reckon the scale for the other three Grand Slams should be the same

I was going to do this again but life gets in the way sometimes (as it does).

no worries, and it does, which is why I dropped it initially anyway!!!

Let's see where we get to for September - we have a family holiday early September so it might be best if someone else picks that one up. They are a bit of fun though and people seem to engage with them.

FW - hope all is well with you and life is treating you well!

A day with no wins!!

Left in now are:

Cam - mens singles
Joe - mens doubles
Jonny and Lissey - mixed
Neal - mixed

All of a sudden, the record haul of 40 looks less likely!! Discuss!

Absolutely, contest not finished yet, due sadly to so many doubles pairs going out today. However Jon thanks for running it, it's helped to keep up my interest after the disappointment of no player points.

Yup. Definitely not worth running a second-week contest.

Maybe worth having a poll about who will get into the second week - if we can agree when it starts wink
