Thank you coup droit. Yes I agree about the opposite being the case too, especially for the girls - mimi has been victim of such comments I know on occasion! The truth is so many factors can influence players and whether or not they can reach or exceed potential shown at u12 level for example. But the main thing is gb seem To have a good crop of promising youngsters at the moment. hopefully they can continue enjoying their tennis and stick at it! The experience of the nationals in nottingham is a great one- we are there now, the atmosphere is fantastic. or it was this morning - Rain delays today havent helped matters but hopefully the rest of the week will be better!
Just to confirm re Scarlette Hetherington, and based on an interview she gave:
Her father in British, her mother is Australian and Scarlette was born and raised in France.
She has a British passport, but also has a French one and an Australian one (lucky girl), and has chosen to play for France.
Her older brother, Jaydon, who is a pretty decent player too (but not of her ilk), and also was born and lives in France, has chosen to play for Australia
Regarding Scarlette Hetherington, I was curious to read a statement from the French federation guy responsible for all U14 elite hopefuls in France, saying that Scarlette is basically outside of the federation structure -
- he was diplomatic but for a French guy it's a very strong statement that it's Scarlette's father who is running her whole programme, he is dogmatic about having absolutely nothing to do the with the FFT.....
Well, I don't know Mr Hetherington, but it might explain why his daughter has such a chippy, strange technique in her tennis (I'm all for players having their own style but honestly.....)
