Week 18 - ITF W25 - Nottingham, GB Hard

And I find that very encouraging - Eden and partner have lost their doubles

My theory for the last event was based on her team withdrawing from the dubs in R1 - and so, here we go again, time to concentrate on singles !

Just noticed that the player Sonay lost to in Turkey last time out has since gone on a 15 match winning streak, including a 60K title.

No, I'm with you - I was saying DON'T capitalise !

The capitalise argument works for adults - they need the points, there's less time, they have a better understanding of their bodies, their mental state etc.

I see no reason a 14 year-old needs to play as much competitive tennis as Mimi has played this month - as said, that energy should be put on the training ground.

 Presumably Mimi wanted to play?

Diana Shnaider of Russia, just turned 18 last month, JCH 2. She was WR 857 when she trounced Sonay in March. She is now live ranked 329!

Yes, indeed - I assume that she wasn't dragged screaming by her hair biggrin

But 14 year-olds do not always get their way. At least, not in my house smile

(And some things are a question of discussion i.e. her opinion counts but so do her coach and her parents' view)

As Ace V and I were going for, Emma has taken the first set off Naiktha, 6-4

Freya is in a ding-dong battle at 5-5

Freya lost the first set 5-7

But is still hanging in there

Emma and Naiktha are neck and neck in the second

(have taken off one 50p, can't take the stress , and left the other hanging there ....)

Beat the top seed

(And Emma came through 6-3 in the third - excellent result)

Yeah, I saw her average odds opened around 3.5 or 5/2, and came in slightly over the past 24 hours or so, and nearer 2/1, or a 3.08 average, but I didn't put anything on it.

I guess on paper, a younger, former top 200 player, someone who has concentrated fully on tennis losing isn't ideal, but the way her past couple of years have gone, I didn't think there was much in it, plus that's a nice win for Emma who continues to be steady away at these type of events.
