Hep and Mimi are both well on course for top ten.

Hep often doesn't close a match well, though - although that might be getting better with age and experience

Big congrats to Hep !
Pleased for her - that was a tough match.
So there's 3 2007 born girls through. And a 2009 girl.
Says that our younger cohort is great.
And maybe that our older cohort is rather weak?

Hi - sorry, where can this be watched? Is it on the LTA site somewhere?

 Thanks Tennisdad!

It does - strange that they have no chair umpires?

I watched Louis Bowden versus Ben Robson for a few minutes; Is Bowden really second seed? It was...poor. Albeit only for around half a dozen points

Poor show having no umpires for what is branded as the biggest junior uk event of the year IMO

I wonder if this is a victim of the increased amount of ITF events there are this season. More tournaments to spread the same pool of Chair Umpires around.

Yes to Jon - I've always thought Louis is rather overrated

And, yes, to tennisdad too - I said before it was disrespectful not to have chair umpires for the qualis. But had assumed/hoped they'd have them for the main draw

But no......

Truly unacceptable, imo

Hep vs Ella was definitely the standout r1 match when I saw the draw, and it looks like it delivered. I watched bits of it and I continue to be impressed with Hep's game. That forehand is going to be a big weapon for her in the future, and the rest of her game is also good. Ella has a pretty big serve and I like her backhand, but her forehand seemed a bit odd. It looks like she has an extreme grip on her forehand, but I'm no expert on these things.

Mimi v Hannah seems the match of the last 8

The quarter-finals are:

(1) Ranah Akua Stoiber v (LL) Flora Johnson
(4) Mingge Xu v (WC) Hannah Klugman
Isabelle Lacy v (3) Talia Neilson-Gatenby
Ruby Hart v Hephzibah Oluwadare

The girls event winner seems wide open and 6 out of the 8 could win it.

Ruby, I believe, is the only player born in 2004.
We have Ranah and Talia who are 2005.
So that's three in the 'right' U18 category (one Y2 and two Y1)

There is then Isabelle (2006) & Flora, Hep and Mimi all being 2007, i.e. U16 (one Y2 and three Y1)

And Hannah as 2009

David or Lambda, just in the 'still unlikely but you never know' case of Hannah winning, I assume she wouldn't be able to take the Wimbly quali wildcard? She's too young, no? (I lose track of the rules.....)

Hannah is not too young no, Heph and Mimi both had WC last year at 13 years old
