A decent final - reasonably competitive and not a bad standard overall (although not up there at top international level for the age))

Luca Pow (2005) is our new U18 champion, beating top seed and defending champion, Will Jansen

Well done to him - he has some good qualities - he's good to watch.

Well done Luca, and that is also the double for him. Good stuff

Great result for Luca. Hes now getting consistently very good results. A big improvement in the last 12 month just when it was starting to look as though a couple of younger ones were moving on. Summer cup selection should be a dead cert!

How does Luca stack up against those missing this week, Matt Rankin, Patrick Brady?

Not sure hes been tested against them in a while, but hes improved a lot over the last few months so would be very interesting to watch any match up.

Yes you can see qualifiers on courts 3 and 5 at least via the LTA YouTube Channel  You can see the schedule on each court here  (Mark Ceban is up next after Allegra Korpanec-Davies on court 5, who is close to a win)

Court 3 stream

Court 5 stream

The under 16 main draw is out here with Viktor in the same quarter as second seed Jamie Diack Mark Ceban was well beaten in qualifying, and though he has weapons through his height, which could become major if he continues growing, does have a lot to do to improve his game which breaks down easily.

Can someone explain to me in short terms how the ranking system within the LTA works.
It does not seem to be related really to the relative strength between the boys. Henry Jefferson needed a wildcard to get into the tournament, despite being one of the best U16 boys, as an example.

Qualifiers are now placed in the main draw  with Oliver Bonding drawing wildcard Henry Jefferson (the under 16 ranking points table is here  (there is a guide to the system here with the current under 16 rankings here )

Schedule of tomorrow's matches is here and I guess the streams and scores will be as per the links from the second post in this thread, or via the LTA YouTube channel

Charlie had to retire.

Young Oli B put up a good show against Henry

Zach could do with watching his language a bit (and I'm no prude about bad language but......)

U16 SF

(1) Benjamin Gusic Wan (2007) v (3) Henry Searle (2006)
Zach Stephens (2006) v (WC) Viktor Frydrych (2006)
