Bit of a taster of something to come. The British season often goes quieter around now and before the next set of home ITFs take place. so I plan to do a little fantasy British tournament. 16 men and 16 women, the top 16 in each ranking list as of the end of Indian Wells.
15 matches in each event, 30 in total - Ill post a poll for each match up and the player with most votes wins. Each poll will last 24 hours and Ill do it over a 5 day period 2 days for first round, then quartes, semis and final.
fantasy venue will be NTC on indoor hardcourt, so neutral. We will assume best of 3 matches and players should be judged as they are playing right now, in terms of form, but with all injuries healed and out of the way. It may mean one or two anomalies and some lopsided votes but also some interesting tussles.
ill post the first polls Wednesday next week and then through the weekend.
Ill post the draws here Monday night and start the polls rolling Wednesday. Just a bit of fun but with the players we have in the mid to lower ranks it could be full of interesting matches.
Thinking as this is about predicting who would win if 16 players played a fantasy championships, I will post the polls in the tennis predictions section.
Would one of the mods be so good as to move this thread
Over there, if that is at all possible?
Interesting. Though next week, week 12 wb 21/03, looks pretty busy for British entries quite apart from being Miami week 1.
The following week looks a bit quieter and then there is another week before the first Nottingham M25 and W25.
Then as we get more into the clay season probably quieter again but maybe you have further plans up your sleave?
For some reason a post i made here hasnt landed?! Taking Indys advice Ill go with doing this from week commencing 28th March and run it from April 6th through April 10th. Ill use the April 4th rankings for the seedings and entry list.
given I want to do it based on players as they are playing right now but without being injured, my one dilemma is Kyle - if he wasnt injured, just what would his form be? Should I take a long term injured player out of the equation or leave him in for the fun of it? Got a week to dwell on that now!

The top 16 players in both mens and womens for next week are fixed, the only players that look like they could change their British rankings position (and thus those around them) are Jack, Ryan and Ali in France , and Lily down in South Africa.
Ill publish the draw on Monday and the opening polls will go up Tuesday
Schedule
Monday 4th draw Tuesday 5th - round one matches (mens top half, womens bottom) Wednesday 6th - round one matches (womens top half, mens bottom) Thursday 7th - qf matches Friday 8th - sf matches Saturday 9th - finals
The whole thing should therefore close Sunday evening.

Remember, no player is injured but try and look at it as if, injury free (but maybe newly returned from injury) the players match up as if the match was today.

So, the votes are up - I suspect in each batch there will be some walkover's but we might just get a few nuggets popping up and for every upset, it causes unexpected matches down the rounds.
I can see several early votes and a few matches are looking close among the not surprising one way streets!
