The dates are set as the 13th to 18th September.

Britains matches are also known:

Wednesday 14th - 4pm versus USA

Friday 16th - 3pm versus Netherlands

Sunday 18th - 2 pm versus Kazakhstan

Not sure when tickets are on sale?

Worthy of note is that the Dutch, with van der zandschulp at queens and Van Rijthoven, who won last weeks event, both making names for themselves.

good for tickets - and not overlooking any potential benefits to the lta in giving van Rijthoven that Wimbledon wild card.

Our Davis Cup team is announced for next month and it is:

Cam
Dan
Andy
Joe

One player can be added by the start and that is between Jack and Neal. I guess that call is on whether they determine the need to add a singles or doubles player to bolster the team. Tough call. Andy can obviously play both but so can Dan and Cam.

Think I am surprised at Andy getting the nod over Jack and Neal but it is in Glasgow and that will sell tickets and maybe give Andy inspiration

\Wondered whether this is worth someone editing and popping the relevant week in the title (week 37?) so it can become the event thread?

Not to mention the potential doubles clash, Neal vs Wes Koolhof - oops! forget that as Neal not named.

I would have Jack over Andy and Neal over Joe....

Fed up with it always being in Glasgow.
We don't all live up north.
About time different parts of the country were chosen.

Ticket sales, ticket sales??!!!

C'mon, that should most certainly have nothing to do with the picking of the team and I sincerely hope ( and actually expect )  it hasn't done.

If the occasion inspires Andy then that would be some benefit and at least he covers for doubles. Cam and Dan both do too but they will no doubt have singles on their plate so I do go with Andy over Jack ( edit:  though given I see a 5th player can be brought in then that could be Neal for doubles with then Jack rather than Andy though think I still just about go for Andy in a close call ).

I would agree that Neal over Joe looks arguably a better initial bet given he seems currently fitter and, possibly related to that, better than Joe. Though the final 5 should have both.

Certainly Glasgow has hosted a lot of Davis Cup matches, and will now host this and the BJK Cup Finals.

But outside that there are very few individual events held in Scotland other than Glasgow's annual futures event and in occasional years a challenger.

The south of England clearly has loads so their citizens can have no issues. Rather less up north but still such as the Ilkley Challenger and futures events and hey less then to travel to Glasgow.

I assume it is in the first place up to cities and venues to put forward a good case to be the British applicant that the LTA (?) then puts forward to the ITF as a candidate to host such international team events.

LOL, you are joking right!?? The entire grass season is in England each and every year.

Also, Glasgow may have been picked because everywhere else had other events on.

The venue is fine for me, Glasgow is a good venue - and presumably there has to be venue availability for these indoor venues, at relatively short notice, so maybe Glasgow has a more flexible approach to being able to fill the slot, not sure how their forward booking process works etc? I think Glasgow was selected back in April for this and a little later for the Fed Cup?

In terms of the team, ticket sales I was tongue in cheek about. I would also though have selected Neal instead of Joe and agree with Wolf re Jack instead of Andy although that would be a close call. I am not sure if they had to go nap on the team now or could have waited, but I would have seen how Andy goes in Cinci and, if time, NYC, before selecting him or Jack.

Presumably they couldnt wait though...

I guess that is what I meant about this particular event. It is too far away for yourself.

Maybe you wish just once it was down your end.
