Loughborough Junior Boys and Girls G3 - week 11

Boys R2

Jamie Diack did very well against the top seed, but lost in two tbs.

Luca Pow got a win, though, and will play the top seed next.

Young Henry Jefferson continues his fine form - am looking forward to seeing him in livestream (or even live) one day soon.

Will Jansen beat Fabio easily.

Ben Gusic Wan lost rather easily too.

A couple of results still to come in

Girls R2

The scores aren't in but if you believe the ITF scoreboard, the results of the day are:

A win for our young star, Hannah Klugman, over the 6th seed.

And a win for Hep over the second seed

I am therefore a very happy tennis fan

Even more good news, and mega congrats, Jaquelyn O has seemingly beaten the top seed. And Issey got a win too.

Given lost though.

The scores are in and the wins were correct.
Given the weakness in the fields with the leading players overseas, not a bad return

The French girl who won Liverpool G4 is probably the big danger on the girls side.

Luca Pow has put out the top seed in the boys, winning 6-4 6-4

Second seed, Wil Jansen, beat Viktor F easily too

The girl who beat Issey is from Bulgaria

Dubs:

Girls:

Hannah K won again, with Abby K (beating the second seeds easily)
And will play Tabitha and Hannah Smith in the all-GB semi

Giulia Lesa (whom I also keep an eye on) and Millie Skelton also won and will play the top seeds from Poland in their semi

Boys:

The top semi-final is all non-GB
In the lower one, Finbar McGarvey & Zak Radziwillowicz play Luca Pow and Hugo Coquelin

Hannah's points will take her straight into the top 1000 with more points to come .
I wonder what her plans are - the next G3 at Loughborough as a wildcard and then presumably if she keeps on winning, the G1 at Roehampton and junior Wimbledon.

Hannah's next opponent, Dencheva, beat her 3 and 4 in the orange bowl in December last year.

Since I don't believe in jinxes, I'm going to say Hannah will avenge her loss from the Orange Bowl last year and we will have an all-GB final on the girls side.

Don't believe in jinxes either

Short and sweet in the boys' semi-finals (well, sweet for the winners, I guess)

Luca Pow (2005) def. Mrva (CZE) 6-0 6-2

Will Jansen (2004) def. Hugo Coquelin 6-0 6-0

So it's an all-GB Final

Thats good news - well done Luca and Will. I see they played once, in Wrexham in May 2021, Will won in 3. But Luca was only 15/16 then, Will is a year older, so quite possible that year will make a difference for Luca and he could win the final

Big points for Luca, so should see a big ranking rise
