Loughborough Junior Boys and Girls G3 - week 11

Qualifying starts today.

Boys is full, girls is half entry.

Hannah Klugman has entered and would have made qualifying, so we assume she has a Main Draw wildcard.

As you say, shame on the UK girls for not turning out to play the qualis here.

Quite a few decided to play this weekend's British Tour event instead.

Which is a somewhat strange decision, IMO - unless you happen to be Welsh, say, and want to support the event.

Ben Gusic Wan has presumably got a wildcard for the MD

As has Henry Jefferson, and Charlie Robertson - which makes sense, as all are quite young and playing well.

First quali results in, with a win for Joe Mazingham, our U14 national champion (although, despite beating Ben Wan, Ben may still be rated more favourably).

Alex Okonkwo (Oliver's younger brother) beat the 4th seed, 0 & 1 (always liked Oliver, hope he's liking US college, don't know the little bro' but I watch out for him too, just on the back of Oli)

Well done to little bro, Alex Okonkwo

He qualifies 13-11 in the MTB

Wildcard Zak Radziwillowicz also got through qualis.

As did Kyran Magimay, beating the top Q seed - bravo !

And Swiss player, Aubert, had a hard win over Cameron Fryer who paulisi says is one to look out for, and then got a win by retirement.

So three extra Brits through to the MD in the boys

In the girls, Q1 seed Jemma Cave lost to Amelia Tye who qualifies for the MD

As does isabella Gibson.

Two Romanian Popsecus were in the FQR

Hannah Rylatt managed to take care of the younger girl, winning in the MTB and making the MD

The elder one, however, won.

In the girls' Main Draw, the big disappointment to me is that (wc) Hannah K plays (wc) Daniela Piani in round one.

Mia Wainwright and Maria Ustic are the other two wildcards, both of whom have been playing well.

Will be interesting to see if Given Roach's J5 form transfers over into J3

Hep Oluwadare is also playing, hot off her win in J4

In the boys, the three mentioned above as seeming wildcards above indeed have turned out to have got WCs, along with Max Carrier.

Great for Hannah

Will be the first of many.....

Great win for Issey Purser too over the 4th seed.

Hep also won easily, as did Given, and Jacquie O

Only Hannah Rylatt's score to come

So we'll have 5 or 6 in the last 16, which is not enormous but let's see....

(No Talia, or Isabelle, or several other top players here, which is slightly strange - others will probably know that they're doing something more important instead...)

Talia, Isabelle, Mimi and Ella are at the J2 in Santo Domingo

Thanks ! I saw David's post yesterday but that was only about Ranah - the others had passed me by...

Mind you, that's a lot of air miles just for a J2 rather than a J3

Nice for the other girls, though, I guess...

Back to back J2s as against back to back J3s.

Yes I would think very strange for just one Dominican Republic J2 but I guess two weeks J2 competition in the Dominican Republic along with coaches doing good work there with them ( as opposed to being on a jolly ) makes some sense.

You have faith, Indy

Still sounds like a jolly for the coaches to me

There is a big difference in points between G2 and G3 and they will virtually all boost their rankings with a round 1 win.
Good choice as I suspect the girls, in particular, will be playing G1 and GS soon enough.
