You get 18pts for MD 1st round entry.

18 points isn't going to add to anyone's rankings, although it's nice to have in their back pocket.

Isabelle and Ella have 18 pointers as their lowest at the moment. And Talia has 30.

But another win would change things

Good effort from Mimi vs older and experienced player, Isabelle too. the girl talia lost in qualies went on  to *lose her first round match. I checked her out. (changed results as previously shown as won her match) Jan 2021 had a ranking of 70 and some Good results such as beating Brenda Fruhvirtova just over a year ago. So not quite such an upset. Should imagine the junior players also feel some pressure in qualifying after some successes too. I would not be surprised if this was the case with Talia as I have seen it in the junior nationals from her before.

I see from the acceptance lists that Phoenix and Ella are both listed for a J1 in Russia next week - be surprised if that happened now?

Sorry, I'm being dense, why might that not happen now?

Assuming it's tennis in Russia that must be in doubt

Sorry, yes, wasnt clear - not sure I would be inclined to travel there as a Westerner right now, or in that region by air, but not sure whether the ITF may pull it anyway?

Good point.....

And Phoenix lost too - 4-6 4-6 to the French 7th seed.

So might as well come home

Talia lost in 3, but Isabelle won and has some serious points to add.
Ella and doubles results still to come.

Good win for Isabelle. She's playing the LL she beat in the final qualifiers in the next round. Hopefully that augurs well.

looking good for a GB girl in the semis with Isabelle. Good effort  from Talia vs seed 4 7-6(4) 6-7(5) 1-6 too, another top Czech player. Heres hoping Ella can repeat her easy win vs the Dane and we get 2 GB players deep in the draw.

Unfortunately Ella wasn't able to repeat her win, so we are down to just Isabelle in singles. Oddly the other three girls have exited with very similar scorelines. Mimi + Talia gave a walkover in doubles to the top seeds (Czech) who will be playing a partnership involving one of the other British girls in the semis. Phoenix has further business here in the doubles.

Girls R2

Rebecca Munk Mortensen (DEN) d. Ella McDonald 6-7(4) 7-5 6-2
(Q) Isabelle Lacy d. Vlada Mincheva (RUS) 6-2 6-3
(4) Tereza Valentova (CZE) d. (LL) Talia Neilson Gatenby 6-7(4) 7-6(5) 6-1

QF

(LL) Laima Vladson (LTU) v (Q) Isabelle Lacy

Boys Doubles SF

Brady/Weir v (4) Dietrich/Gea (SUI/FRA)

Agreed looks a pattern, all 3 girls won the first sets, very close second set and potentially match wins, easier loss 3rd set. interesting to Know if stamina issue with our players.
