Although we are currently only in qualification stage here there is considerable British interest led by Talia Neilson Gatenby and Mingge Xu who are both seeded to qualify. Both recorded bakery product victories in the first qualifying round, and were joined by Isabelle Lacy, Henry Searle, Luca Pow and Hugo Coquelin to complete 100% British success. They will need to win two more matches though to qualify and join Louis Bowden, Patrick Brady, Phoenix Weir and Ella McDonald in the main draw.
Better news from the other girls - Isabelle and Mimi both qualified without dropping a set. And Talia got lucky, an LL place against a local wildcard, while Mimi has to take on a strong second seed (won her only junior event this year - grade 2 - and qualified plus won a round at a $60K event last week).
Luca and Hugo are through to final qualifying but Henry lost out in QR2

The points are weighted much more heavily to G2 and above at junior level, so this could be a crucial week for our boys and girls and I'd expect to see some big movements up the rankings.
Not overly surprised that the other boys have had trouble....
Louis, Patrick and Hugo all lost in R1
Looks like Mimi put up an excellent show against the second seed, winning the first set 6-2, and getting to a TB in the second, which she lost 7-6(4). After that, experience shows and the third set was always going to be a struggle (she lost it 2-6). But great effort, for a 2007-born girl, against a 17 year-old, top-50 or so junior.
