Kate Mansfield is probably one o the better player on the girls side. She is US, but based here and is a lot older than most and played in the qualifiers in some of the 25ks and has a bit of knowhow and consistency on court.

If Ben Gusic Wan wants to move up to the next level and he is good enough he needs to start going deep. I think the best performance on ITF juniors was a semi final.

Good to see a few younger or newer names getting ranking points over the last couple of weeks - Hannah Rylatt, Max Carrier, Sarah Copley, Heidi Crnan, Cameron Fryer etc

The depth of talent is very good at the moment.

How did she come to be based in the UK?

No idea. All the kids know her and she plays all the GB junior events and 25ks when she gets in.

Any chance the LTA can pinch her?'

Why? - she is 17, playing G5 juniors and not really looking like she can break into adult tennis yet.

Yes, the LTA would have done better to pinch Mariam Bolkvadze or Lily Miyazaki, not to mention Donna Vekic, or a host of other foreign girls who were based in the UK for a good chunk of their younger years.

Yippety skippety
My little fave Daniela, age 14, had beaten the American 17 year old second seed.

She'll now play Given in the final

Fabio Nestola is in the boys final. I assume the other game has gone the distance as result not published yet.

Ben won 7-6(2), 6-2 in the other semis.

(Ben's result was late because Daniela and Kate's match was so long - 5-7 7-6 (13-11!!!) 6-3

So the US girl and the Spanish boy are both out and it's another set of GB v GB finals

Back to back wins for Given and another big jump up the rankings.
A first ITF title foe Ben and another Jump.

Both playing doubles later - I did pop my head in for 5 mins last night. Ben was playing doubles with Jamie and he was up to the shoulders of Jamie....

Fair do's to Given , she has done it without losing a set over the two events.

Definitely good results for Given, but given shes nearly 17 you may expect favourable results in a cat 5. Danielas result as a 2007 is pretty impressive considering she beat the Kate Mansfield yesterday 7-5 6-7(15-13) 6-3 in the quarters, a player Given lost to first round in the Glasgow Cat 3.

Roach and Piani won by walkover

Jefferson and Robertson won a very tight MTB 12-10

Wow, the young lad who won is half the height of the runner up!
