Back to back G5 in Liverpool.

With half term finished in most regions, the entry list is a little weaker than last week.

Boys:

For the most part, seedings and rankings were followed.

However, Charlies Robertson, seeded 6, lost.

Pleased to see a win for 14 year-old wildcard Max Carrier. That should get him a ranking

All the other wildcards lost.

Girls:

As paulisi says, top seed Abby Kelliher (2007) lost.

But I don't think that was too surprising. She lost to Maria Ustic (2007) who has been doing well recently and Abby's ranking is very recent too.

Amalia W (2008) got a win.

My little fave Daniela P beat the third seed, Scarlet P

14 year-old Heidi Crncan was the only wildcard to post a win

GIRLS

Given Roach continues her good form, making the quarters over Heidi Crnan

More impressively, youngster Amalia Widdowson (born 2008) defeated the 6th seed

And Maria Ustic, 2007, also carries on well, confirming her recent rise.

Ava Williamson (2006) has also beaten the Romanian girl who paulisi was impressed by.

Which means we have 4 GB girls in the top half, and so a guaranteed finalist

In the lower half, well done to Daniela Piani (2007) who is into the QFs, and plays a Spanish girl.

Hannah Rylatt put out 5th seed Jaquelyn O and will play the American second seed in the other QF

BOYS

Fabio Nestola, top seed, needed three sets today but has made the QF

Where he will play Luke McFarlane.

Jack Curtis put out Jonah Gethin (seeded 4) and plays the fifth seed from Spain in his QF

Win of the day goes to youngster Max Carrier (2007) who, in a clutch third-set TB, defeated the 8th seed from Hong Kong

And will play Ben Gusic Wan (2007) in the young gun QF

Second seed, Jamie Diack, also won and will play Henry Jefferson in the final QF

Kate Mansfield is probably one o the better player on the girls side. She is US, but based here and is a lot older than most and played in the qualifiers in some of the 25ks and has a bit of knowhow and consistency on court.

If Ben Gusic Wan wants to move up to the next level and he is good enough he needs to start going deep. I think the best performance on ITF juniors was a semi final.

Good to see a few younger or newer names getting ranking points over the last couple of weeks - Hannah Rylatt, Max Carrier, Sarah Copley, Heidi Crnan, Cameron Fryer etc

The depth of talent is very good at the moment.

How did she come to be based in the UK?

Not sure. Paulisi saw him last year and was talking very highly of him, and impressed, but said he was small for his age. I think he might have seen him again this year.

My feeling is that he's rather 'fully priced', although that's not always a problem, of course.

He beat Max Carrier today, in two tight sets, and although he lost the nationals last year to Joe Maz., I think he's established himself firmly as our best 2007-er. Not sure that will be enough though...

SF:

Fabio v Spanish player
Henry Jefferson v Ben

Well done to Daniela

But she's going to be tired - it was a mammoth match (7-6(7), 5-7, 7-5)

Maria Ustic carries on her good form

As does last week's titalist, Given

The 17 year-old American girl also won reasonably easily

(I would think her parents are based here for work, dodrade, but it's just a guess)

So the semis are:

Maria v Given
Kate (USA) v Daniela

No idea. All the kids know her and she plays all the GB junior events and 25ks when she gets in.

Still tiny for his age, but uses his court craft by giving everyone the run around.

If he grows, he will be a top player.

Any chance the LTA can pinch her?'
