But saw a fair bit of Hannah who seemed to be nicely in control, even though the other girl played well

Hannah has started very well.

4-1

She has the wondrous ability to (a) play defence and just soak up the pressure and put the ball back deep, (b) - her more normal game - to play percentage and distribute a heavy ball really well from left to right, and (c) when feeling relaxed, to chance her arm and hit some cracking winners.

No further joy in doubles but Hannah's second singles semi-final will be the second match on Centre tomorrow ( the first, featuring the number 1 & 3 seeds starts at 8.30am GMT)

But always good to get unexpected good news smile

I think she's about to start so I'm going to try and flick between that and a bit of the men's doubles in Oz - at least I'll have the two ends of the spectrum smile

Kuharenko started by far the better - tall, strong, she imposed herself really well.

But Hannah hung in to take the third game.

Nice to have the match with proper, Roland Garros commentators (although they natter too much but it shows the importance being accorded to the event)

PS According to the commentators, the Belorussian is 1m85 - which is pretty tall for a 14 year-old
