Really pleased with Zach.

He's one I've been watching since lowly ranked, mainly because he's quite young (2006) and he seems to be in really weird places of the world

Azerbaijan, Tajikistan - he's seems to be sort of doing his thing, usually on his own... I always have to start a new event in the 'Other events' thread, just for him, and with some strange place I can't spell

Go for it, Zach !

Wow, there sure are a lot of junior events this week. Is this normal and it's just the number of Brits that is abnormal or is there a particular reason for it?

There are a lot of junior events most weeks.  What is unusual (though standard for January) is the glut of top graded tournaments (A/1/2) which are given separate threads here.  Apart from the three with British interest there are also a Grade 1 in the Ukraine and Grade 2s in Tunisia and Slovakia.  I guess that at the start of the year each continent wants to offer high level competition to juniors, giving them a chance to progress quickly with a year's cohort having just been removed and a number opting out of the grand slam in Australia.

End of the line for Zach in India

Ruslan Tiukaev (RUS) d. Zach Stephens 6-3 6-4
