Now, I know we're all very open-minded about weird and wonderful names (well, all bar SC ) ......... but when I look at the quali draw in the women's for Felixstowe, I see a player called:

Praises Of God John

Really? Is that true?

competitions.lta.org.uk/sport/tournament/draw

I pointed this out some days ago. She is listed as being born in 2009. In the men's draw there is a player called Breakthrough John who is a 2007. I am tempted to call in and find out more as Felixstrowe is around 45 minutes away.

Oh, so sorry, the addict - I must have missed your post - excuse me

But, yes, that sounds very much like a brother and sister then .... love it .....

Main draw gets under way at Felixstowe today even though qualifying was unable to finish yesterday. All the seeds have a bye into the second round so don't play until tomorrow.
Prize money is £1500 to the winners, plus a WC into the Wimbledon qualifying WC playoffs.

The top seeds are:-

Mens

1/642 Harry Wendelken

2/1097 Joshua Paris

3/1206 Alexis Canter

4/1677 Jack Gibbens

Womens

1/559 Freya Christie

2/625 Eliz Maloney

3/1103 Emma Wilson

4/1407 Holly Hutchinson

Unfortunately I can't go and watch as I am unable to drive after breaking a rib in a fall.

Ouch, sorry to hear that, the addict.

Do hope you're not in too much discomfort.

All the best....

 Ouch, get well soon TA!

Is there a stream to be able to watch British Tour events, perhaps you can take a look at that?

Thanks everyone.

I've never seen cameras at Felixstowe or Frinton so I very much doubt there will be a stream anywhere.
I first went to Felixstowe for this event six years ago today. Players that day included Dan Smethurst, Joe Salisbury, Neil Pauffley, Beth Grey, Emily Arbuthnott, Holly Hutchinson, Aimee Gibson and Lucy Brown.

I am trying to recall the history of Felixstowe tennis - the traditional British grass season includes Felixstowe, Frinton on Sea, Ilkley, Cromer, Hunstanton, Surbiton, Worthing, Chichester, as well as the main tour venues. I think it has always been played in July, hasnt it, I seem to remember it always being pre Ilkley (as in the Ilkley Open, not the Challenger) - I think it did have ITF Futures status a few years back, and probably was one of the main venues for the top players to come in the 1950's and 60's I would guess, but cant seem to see much info on wiki about it.

Quarter finals set

Harry Wendelken [1/642] v Toby Samuel [6/1808]
James Beaven v Patrick Foley [7/1913]

Joseph Newman-Billington v David Quayle
Tom Hands [8/362] v Joshua Paris [2/1097]

Freya Christie [1/559] v Given Roach [6]
Adeola Greatorex v Ciara Moore

Lauren Bishop v Emma Wilson [3/1103]
Francesca Davis [8] v Eliz Maloney [2/625]

Matches seem to have taken a long time today. Almost two hours for some straightforward womens two-setters, and close to three hours for three sets. Probably a bit windy on the coast !
