Well done to Andy Lapthorne on winning the quads doubles here, good result.

Alfie is in the mens singles final, probably played last night but result not yet posted.

I think Alfie could well take on top spot this week; Kunieda is currently top, just 16 points ahead of Alfie. He lost in the semis and will therefore lose his 2019 Cajun points as winner. So he will drop, I think by around 200 points.

Alfie doesnt have Cajun in his counters and has reached the final here, which looks like it will at least add 150 points or so to his total. So he should, if I am understanding the points properly, move comfortably to World number one position.

Need to see final result (maybe the weather delayed it?) and then new rankings to determine!

Alfie is straight into more action, as the focus swaps to the BNP Parisbas World Team Cup Qualifying Round, being played at Antalya, Turkey.

The World Group Finals are being played in Portugal in May; the last finals took place in October 21 in Sardinia; the mens team withdrew due to various illnesses in the team. Hence, although the womens, quads and juniors have all qualified for the World Finals in May, the mens team need to go through qualification.

www.lta.org.uk/news/great-britain-name-four-strong-mens-team-for--2022-bnp-paribas-world-team-cup-qualification-in-turkey/

The team of Alfie, Dermot Bailey, Ben Bartram and Dahnon Ward (the latter two both 16) is the strongest in the event, so we should get through

Hard to get much sense on the schedule of this World Team Cup qualies event but found this

itfwheelchair.tournamentsoftware.com/sport/draws.aspx

Makes the LTA website seem simple!

Upshot is teams are split into regional groups, despite all being played in Turkey. GB mens are our only team as
Womens and quads have already qualified.

GB mens are in Europe and play in a group with just Germany. It isnt clear when we play Germany but rankings suggest that should be a relatively comfortable match for us . It is just a 2 team group. Presumably just the winners qualify for knockout semis.

Of the GB teams, just the Juniors survive into the last 4. Sadly, the other teams have all left after the group stages, although still playing for positionals.

GB Juniors play NL in the semis and France play Australia in the other semifinal. Both matches are now on court - Britain are a set up in the opening rubber
