I see Jonny O'Mara and Marach are out of this as well as AO - does anyone know if it is Jonny or Marach that has the issue? I see the draw says repairing so hope Jonny is not the issue and can find another partner for Sydney and AO?

It must be Marach as Jonny is in the draw with Fabrice Martin (FRA)

That's a pretty awful draw for Emma. Swiatek looks to be in very good form having reached the semis in Adelaide (lost to Barty overnight)

Ah. Such a pity that covid interrupted Emma's prep and left her deciding to just have this one warm-up tournament before the AO.

A bit surprised there are only two weeks of warm up tournaments beforehand, I thought it was better having it in February last year giving more time to prepare.

It looks like they are wanting a more 'normal' looking tour this year, rather than having several displaced tournaments.

The AO is in January because it is timed to take place during their school holidays to get the maximum benefit for the regional economy.

I was replying to the comment about it being in February and more generally it does seem like the tour wants to be back to normal and not have displaced tournaments everywhere. That said, thanks for the info that it's the hols there. It might also be hols here (NZ) but I don't know any kids here but our uni students are still off until well into February
