UK Pro League 2022

Just happy to see Kyle playing competitively. 'How competitively' will be a different question.

Looks like Jo Garland has replaced Beth Grey

Abigail Johnson mentioned on comms the other day that Beth is in the process of relocating to Richmond in London, so that might have something to do with it. She also had the physio called in her match against Alice Gillan so probably isn't in brilliant shape.

As a side note, wonder if Garland will switch to GB at some point? She hasn't played any Fed Cup for ROC yet and lower ranked players than her have done so.

I have just tried to log into the UK Pro league web site to watch some play but it says the content is t=restricted and not available in the UK or Ireland. Seems bizarre, but I can't see that I'm doing anything wrong. Anyone else managed to get this?

Yes same thing happens with me. I think some match footage is only available to UK viewers a few weeks after the broadcast. I tried switching to a Dutch VPN but same issue with some matches being ok, some not.

Tennis Channel have the streaming rights in the UK. Elsewhere streaming on the UKPL site is not free. It costs £9.99.

It seems utterly crazy.  Surely it's only viewers in the UK who want to watch this.  if we can't have it live why bother at all?

It is a bit strange and I can't imagine there would be any audience outside UK. According to tennis explorer only one betting site actually bothers to offer odds on pro league matches and it isn't one of the main ones.

Utterly bizarre, re above.....

In addition, I see that Beth has withdrawn - which is worrying - and backs up previous worries ::((

Also, Ewan Moore has beaten Billy Harris which is a big upset in terms of rankings, but Ewan was playing extremely well, on livestream and was always a reasonable outsider punt

Interesting - didnt the UKPL start up in lockdown because of betting money? If only one is supporting it now, I wonder if it can continue to sustain itself, at least independently of perhaps merging with British Tour or Progress Tour or some such?

If they can keep it going whole of next year I'd be amazed. The money isn't there and I know they sell merchandise on the website but realistically how much business are they getting?

Stronger incentive to play if you're a UK based player under another flag, because there is now a fuller schedule of British ITF events to occupy a lot of the GB players

I bet 20p on Ewan, 20p on Lauryn JB and 10p on George Houghton (now cashed in)

Just trying to do my bit to help the UKPL out smile

(And Densher, don't know where tennisexplorer gets its info, but Bet365 offers betting on all the UK Pro League matces)

Gabriella Knutson replaces Beth. Freya beats Eliz which surprises me a bit.

Kyle won in an MTB on his return against George Houghton
