Gabriella Knutson replaces Beth. Freya beats Eliz which surprises me a bit.

Kyle won in an MTB on his return against George Houghton

Gabby is replacing Eden tomorrow. Jo replaced Beth today.

Cool, dropping like flies! Re Knutson - never heard of her before this event!

I'm sure you've already found this out, but I'm going to post it anyway. She's a post-grad student at Durham. Aged 25, from the Czech Republic, WR469. Won doubles at W25's in Loughborough and Nottingham this year, partnering Joanna Garland and Katie Stresnakova

Yeah Knutson played college tennis at Syracuse then completed a postgraduate course at Durham, had a year out doing whatever, then came back to Durham for another postgrad, this time also acting as coordinator of the tennis club there; and finally took her first steps into the professional game this year.

Seen her play a couple of times, very robust on her backhand side, serve okay but the high toss can be problematic outdoors. Not sure if this is still true but I think she was training at Sutton with Stresnakova and Lukosiute.

Pretty poor attendance compared to last year's finals, The only two people watching the end of Alice Gillan and Lauryn John-Baptiste's match seemed to be a relative of Lauryn's and Abigail Johnson.

Gabby, Katy and Andre along with Eliz formed the Sutton Tennis Club team which became National Team Tennis champions in September.  Gaby only just recently started full time pro tennis so, as already ranked in the 400's, she has the potential to go high. I would consider her favourite for this event.

Utterly bizarre, re above.....

In addition, I see that Beth has withdrawn - which is worrying - and backs up previous worries ::((

Also, Ewan Moore has beaten Billy Harris which is a big upset in terms of rankings, but Ewan was playing extremely well, on livestream and was always a reasonable outsider punt

Well, Ewan backed it up with a straight sets win over Anton today, two big wins for him and he is through to the last 8 for certain.

Dan Cox beat George H which means George H is out and Cox and Edmund proceed to the last 8, although they need to play each other for position tomorrow

Looking over the results in the women's groups, they all went as expected: Knutson overcame Gillan fairly easily, Lumsden came through against Lukosiute after a tricky opening set, Maloney was very convincing against Vasilescu and Malygina beat Stresnakova - all wins in straights and just the one tiebreak in the Lumsden/Lukosiute match

For tomorrow it will be interesting to see how Dan Cox gets on against Kyle

From what I can see, Ewan Moore, Dan Cox, Kyle Edmund and Charlie Broom into the mens last 8.

Eliz Maloney, Elena Malygina, Gabriela Knutson, Lauryn John-Baptiste, Maia Lumsden into the womens last 8

Why do the pools say that Eliz has played 2 and won 2 when she lost her first match against Freya?

Well, based on the above, maybe they were both qualified already so it didn't really matter???

No idea but Lauryn JB has just beaten Gabi Knutson very easily

And in the men's, two down to the wire, with both Kyle and Harry W sneaking through their matches by the skin of their teeth
