RE: 2021 Player of the Season Wild Card Nominations Thread

Conscious that we havent had any nominations for a little while - so, with the deadline for all 20 places to be filled being the end of this coming Sunday 12th, I am going to open the nominations to anyone to nominate as many players as they wish from the end of today. If you haven't nominated yet but want to, then please do your one nomination today. If you have nominated (or haven't for that matter) then tomorrow will become free for all and you can nominate as many players as you wish before the end of the day Sunday.
If any player subsequently qualifies for the PoS vote through the other means available (ie Nov/Dec PoM) we will just remove them from this wild card vote and I will back fill them with a player of my choice at that time.

5 days left left to nominate your wild card , 11 spaces available. On the morning of the 12th December I will make it a free for all to complete the places in the vote

please be aware this is one nomination per member maximum please. However, if there are still places available for nominations, I will open it up for anyone to nominate freely from morning of 12th December onwards.

NOTE: already qualified players not eligible for wild card vote are listed in second post of this thread
Nominations close evening of 12th December or when 20 nominations reached

1st alt - Eva Shaw; 2nd alt - Matilda Mutavdzic

(note I have Eva Shaw as an alternate still, if spaces exist on 12th December she will be first in; if anyone formally nominates her before, then she will go into the draw regardless)

Added note - Matilda mutavdzic loses her spot in pos as top girl to Ranah Stoiber. 13th December was always the cut off but I didnt expect a last second change. As Matilda wont have been considered by anyone as a wild card potential please take this note as advice that she can and should be considered if anyone wishes to do so. Due to last ditch change , I will also add her in as a second alt in the wildcard and she will be added alongside Eva Shaw if places exist to be filled on the morning of 12th December.

If anyone wishes to nominate Eva, Matilda or anyone else before the end of this week, please do so by saying here.

I will nominate Mingge Xu (2007). She is JWR 301 (8th highest 2007er), got her first junior title and got to the QF in the 18U nationals. In the LTA combined rankings she is 1st in the 14U, 3 in 16U and 11 in 18U. She would probably be higher if it wasn't for having to count some low scoring 2020 U14 counters.

I'll add Billy Harris to the list. Three M15 titles so far, plus a UK Pro league week win. 22 ITF tournaments as well as 7 in the UK Pro tour and I think 1 British Tour.

Sorry Madadman - I should have updated the list - Billy's title in Antalya last weekend meant he reached the magic 6 that I had set and so he is qualified for the Player of the Season Vote anyway! SO good call, but he doesnt need the wild card!

OK I nominate Felix Gill. On 7.12.2020 he was ranked ATP 1407. He is now live ranked 599 for next Monday, a potential rise of over 800 places in 12 months. Plus he has just won his first ITF tournament aged 19 years.

We only have 4 players left in actual tennis action this week, of whom Billy and Stuart are already into the pos vote, leaving Jasmine Conway and Millie Bissett as players who could force their way into someones reckoning for a wild card vote nomination, although that seems unlikely .

Im assuming anyone else not playing this week would most likely have been nominated by now? As such , once Jasmine and Millie are finished in Cancun, Ill let nominations for the wild card vote run for another 24 hours (it could be tonight they are out!) before I close nominations.

So if you have been holding back or have sudden inspiration, then can I ask you nominate here asap to avoid missing out!

We are in the end game !

And with Jasmines loss, I think its easily time to call a close to these nominations . So final call, any nominations for the player of the season wild card, please have them in by 8 pm (24 hours) Friday evening and I will finalise the list for the vote next week at that point .

Thanks
