So, I have broken a little earlier than planned but felt there was no real need in waiting.
As folks may have read elsewhere, we will be having a Player of the Season vote in Mid December, after the Nov/Dec Player of the Month vote has concluded.
The Player of the Season vote will comprise all the PoM winners and RU's, plus a number of other qualified players. So far, 24 players have qualified - I will post that list in the next post in this thread.
The 24 will be supplemented by the Nov/Dec PoM and RU and anyone else achieving the right number of tournament wins in the few weeks left in the season. It is hard to tell how many that will be but I expect the final list to be 26-28 players.
In addition to those qualified below, I will add in some wild cards and this is where this thread comes in.
Around 14th December, I plan to hold a poll to find the wild card nomination (s) to take part in the Player of the Season - this will be for anyone not already qualified who the folks on this board think is most deserving to take part in the Player of the Season votes. It will be at least one player but may be more depending on where we get to with qualifiers.
Process:
We can have 20 maximum players in a poll and so I want 20 nominations. Nominations will close when we reach 20 and no later than 12th December.
Any one Board member can nominate a maximum of 1 player to be in the Wild Card vote. Please put their name down here and a reason and I will collate a list. No more than one nomination per board member remember. If the player subsequently qualifies for Player of the Season through Nov/Dec PoM or through tournament wins, I will take them off the wild card list and free up their place. If that happens, the nominating board member can have another nomination.
On 14th December I will post a poll and also how many wild cards will be awarded. Remember the only players you cant nominate will be those already qualified (see next post). Any male, female, junior, wheelchair player is open to be nominated if not already qualified.
Players you might want to nominate could be highest ranked players not already qualified in mens singles, womens singles, doubles, junior game, wheelchair, tournament winners, players receiving lots of PoM nominations but not quite winning PoM, players who did well in UKPL, British Tour etc. ( I was going to be preallocate to those but decided to make it a free nomination process)
I hope this makes sense - just put a name in a post below and a reason and I will collate a list like this below:

Ok, I think I will get this thread moving along with the first nomination into the wildcard vote: Jo Konta - Jo won a WTA Tour event, our only woman to win a full WTA level event this season and the only men (Cam and Dan) to have done so are both into the Player of Season vote already. Jo is also the highest ranked singles player male or female not into the player of the season vote (Cam, Dan, Emma are all in already, Jo is next highest I believe)

I nominate Beth Grey. Having been on the periphery of the top 500 since I first started taking note of all our players in about 2013 she's finally made the breakthrough and indeed is still climbing the rankings towards the top 400.
Me too - I was mentally composing one for Beth after her rise up the singles and doubles rankings to new CH's this year, and career-high victories on the way. I haven't been following her progress as long as Brendan, but only since I saw her play in 2016
I nominate Katie Boulter for her BJ King Fed Cup perfromance in winning both her singles against Mexico to win the tie for us and on occasions reaching her potential, with a win over Coco Gauff and the later stages of Nottingham before injury intervened when an all British WTA final against Jo looked on the cards.,
NOTE: already qualified players not eligible for wild card vote are listed in second post of this thread
Nominations close 12th December or when 20 nominations reached
