Still only 4 W25 and 4 M25 (January and February) on the list for Britain - waiting to see if there will be any W15 and M15. So not many will benefit at the moment.
But this rule is for the whole of 2022, no?
So if we've already got 4 women's 25k events in Jan and Feb, we're bound to have more 25ks at some time in the year so that's going to be a big difference.
Think the LTA performance calendar published up to Wimbledon had another 2 in April and then another 2 in May. Slightly surprised no 15ks in the first half of the year.
Yes, there will be more 25k's - but my point was that there aren't any 15k's announced yet, and that is where I see the benefit is most needed - for the up and coming players.

I'm afraid that I'm not surprised to see no 15Ks. The LTA have become rather boneheaded about them when there do appear to be obvious benefits for these trying to break through with less LTA or independent support.
They do actually want to see some later developing players who are not already largely in / have come through the LTA system?
For women, main draw wild cards are offered to the winner of the UK Pro league, including week 9 and finals week this year, British Tour masters and British Tour Premier events. The runner-up of UK Pro league finals week also earns a main draw wild card. Qualifying wild cards are offered to the winner of the main progress tour events and runners up of UK Pro league.
For men it is similar but there are some differences, for example, additional qualifying wild cards for the runners up of British Tour Masters and this weeks Premier and next weeks Progress Tour winner gets a main draw Wild card. There appear to be no feed up wild cards from week 9 and finals week of this years Pro league for the men.
The winners of the 16U and 18U Nationals get numerous wild cards.
Other info we can get from this, and in particular for JonH, it seems to confirm Ilkley is planned this year (the 18U Nationals girls winner and runner-up get WCs there).
There appears to be five 25Ks planned for July and August.

Will the Wild Cards on offer mean stronger line ups in the UK Pro League?
I'm on the fence regarding the 15k situation. The points differencial is so large for the women that it's probably more beneficial to stick with the 25ks, a lucky draw or 2 or a purple patch over the year could really open up the calendar for a player. For the Men, it's a little more balanced as to whether a few 15ks would be helpful but if the LTA are going to potentially put on 12 in the year then the odds of getting a decent run in atleast a couple of them possibly make it worthwhile to only run 25ks, particularly with Covid making it a little harder to travel.
Points may be scarce in the 15k's, but a handful of points are needed to get a ranking just to get into the 25k's. You can see from the entries every week in places like Monastir and Antalya.
I'm very much in favour of there being a few 15k's in this country.

Just look at the logic of holding a women's 25K in Jan when most of our ladies are in Australia.
Just Beth ranked inside top 500 entered. The next batch - Freya, Alicia, Emily WS etc are there for doubles primarily. It would have been good to give chances for lots of our good youngsters to try and get on the ladder I.e those playing the UK money events - Sonay, Nadia, Emma W, Anna B, Ranah, Eliz etc etc
They would all have a chance of winning a couple of rounds and picking up points and not too much cost compared to an overseas trip.
Probably comes down to number of courts needed. I assume indoor facilities at Bath are less than Tunisia outdoors. Considering there and mens and womens draws thats a lot of matches to fit in.
My impression, without checking back, is that GB 25K qualifying are almost always ( always? ) 32 l( *edit ) player draws, whatever the location and whether or not the men and women are doubling up.
I have certainly been very well aware of W15 draws with 8 QR1 ties involving fairly well ranked qualifying seeds and GB players very much out of their depth.
No GB W15s and GB W25s where the lower ranked looking to break through get fed to the wolves.
Edit : Sorry, edited from 16 player draws to 32 player draws
Basically I meant 2 qualifying rounds so just had a senile moment
