Love you trying to narrow down the detail on this, Jon   biggrin

Well - lets get real! Draw a line from Liverpool through Sheffield and to the coast. Anything below that is the south. Its simple really. Ill let folks in Derbyshire and Notts call Themselves Midlands. cheshire folks are on the cusp. Depends how I feel.

Really? Aren't they above the M25 somewhere?

Isn't the M25 a circle? What does above and below mean in that context?

Compass points in relation to a circle:

Above is north, below is south, left is west and right is east - simples....

I'm quite sure Hadrians Wall is the boundary between north and south.

Ah, but the circle was the M25
In that the North is everything above it
But I realise not everyone sees things the same..... :)
And where the dickens is Shrewsbury anyway? Next to Wales, somewhere???

According to the commentators for the junior champs, and assuming I heard right (!), they were saying something along the lines of that the number of ITF junior events will go up from 8 this year to 23 next year, and Tennis Europe events from 3 to 8 ....

But not sure that sounds right, tbh

It sounds like they were referring to this year. Juniors has gone from 8 to 20 this year. I don't know about TE but the plan was to increase from 5 to 11 this year.

Does anyone know why Ilkley is the only tournament in the grass swing next year not to have its dates confirmed on the LTA calendar? The calendar for the grass season is fairly well established so why the uncertainty?

My understanding is that it is a very successful tournament that is well liked by the players so surely it is not in doubt? Could an alternative date being considered? There is a gap for the women in the week before that was previously occupied by Manchester you could move it to and that would avoid the clash with the new this year grass 125K in Italy, but the men couldn't be moved as that would clash with Nottingham. I'm sure they don't want to have men and women on separate weeks and I'm not convinced the tournament would be as successful if it was so I think a date move can be ruled out. Perhaps they are looking at increasing the women to a 125K so the player field isn't as affected by the Italy 125K?

It's a puzzle.

(I know this this years thread but I didn't want to start a new thread for this)

Hi Lambda - do you have a copy of the 2023 calendar , Id love to see it if you could post it,?

re Ilkley - it has been a success and well attended - Ive seen the WTA 2023 calendar as it happens but it doesnt cover the ITF events and its not on the 125 lists either . Ill watch with interest as it is my local event

Worth noting it is on the ATP 2023 challenger calendar

www.atptour.com/-/media/files/2022-atp-challenger-calendar-as-of-11-10-2022.pdf

The challenger events are at the back end of this file. Ilkley in its normal date
On there - all are ATP125 events. This was published and updated around a month ago it says.
