Boys & Girls: J5 Liverpool (Northern Vision Liverpool International), United Kingdom - Hard, indoor (Week 45)

Straight forward win for Lorenzo Carboni, however the other match went down to the wire with the lefty French Australian nicking the final set tie break.
Ben had come back from 5-2 in the final set to serve for the match at 6-5, only to be broken. Ben then went 4-0 up in the tie breaker only to lose it 7-5.

In the girls - Abby easily disposed of the top seed. Kate Mansfield took out Sirena in a tight match. Paulina was a comfortable winner against Tabitha and Allegra lost out in a tight match to the French lefty.

Alex Winder and Isabelle Walker won the TE singles finals and get wildcards for next week. However I believe Alex declined the wildcard and Jonny was still debating whether to accept the offer of the wildcard.

 Congrats to Alex.

He was only a wildcard in this draw. So obviously hasn't got the results sheet of some other players.

Born in 2008.

Looks very young. But I guess he is

Isabella Walker, on the other hand, was third seed. And a bit more well known.

In the main J5 event, a couple of heart-breakers....

In the boys SFs, young Ben lost in a third-set TB, 7-6(5), against the second seed. A great result though.

Jamie Diack also lost.

So the boys' final is an all-foreign affair, AUS v ITA

In the girls' QFs, poor Sirena Waas also lost out in the 3rd set TB 7-6(3).

And Allegra lost in three sets too.

BUT young Abby K beat the top seed very easily, which is a brilliant result.

And Paulina J def. Tabitha

SO the SFs are:

(8) Abby Kelliher (2007) v (6) Kate Mansfield (USA)

Paulina Jurkowska (2005) v Clemence Thouard (FRA)

Unfortunately (for us) the girls' singles final has ended up being an all-foreign affair, like the boys.

Abby and Paulina both lost.

It just shows how much junior tennis has been missed as there were so many British players that I had never heard of or seen before and of a very good standard.

Standard is even higher this week with a G4

PS The lefty French Australian who won the boys singles has now won 4 G5's on the bounce. He should have been beaten by Ben in the semi final

Great that you've been able to get back to tennis after missing so much. Must have been great. Are you going to be able to get to the J4?

There's definitely a lot of far higher profile names there.
