You don't think that even Hannah would get a wildcard later in the (grass) season if she hasn't entered the nationals?
OK, then that's good, tbh
I've always been in favour of heavily promoting the nationals, they used to be meaningless nonsense.
And the LTA have been raising their profile over the recent years, which I think is right.
(However, sceptically, I still think they'd look very favourably on her 'doctor's note', if she produced a 'the dog ate my homework' sort of one)
But, OK, then she'll presumably be playing nationals, good
(Frankly, it's all quite exciting but I really don't think it matters when a girl just turned 14 starts to play adults - the tournaments, the ranking points, the matches are all just part of the course, what matters is the tennis, and the sport-life-health balance - and her team will have a good idea about that)
With the acceptance lists now out, it looks like Hannah has withdrawn from the Hamburg event.
And not entered Loughborough
(so I got all that wrong )
And is playing the J300 in Morocco instead (along with Mimi and Isabelle.... so obviously an LTA group going)
So she's prioritising clay courts, presumably for all the positives it brings in terms of technique and matchplay (although it'll be hard in terms of results - she's not a natural clay courter and it's a high level - but all the more reason to give it a go )
Very glad to see no immediate kneejerk adult event
I also think that it's great when they all go together. There's quite a nice little group of girls and boys that are all doing pretty well I'm the 15-18 age group and I'm absolutely convinced that it helps them to travel together. Equally I think last year when we got some really good results in the adult groups it was often when there were groups travelling together or playing in the UK. It also makes it more cost effective to have more coaches travelling with them.
Making sport fun is absolutely vital at this age, so I'm glad they're pursuing this strategy.

Absolutely agree with this, particularly important for the youngsters but relevant for the adults too.
It's an interesting choice to play a high level event on an unfamiliar surface at a time she has one-third of her ranking points dropping and most of our other top 300 girls appear to be going to Santa Domingo for a couple of J200s. It suggests, rightly, that she is more interested in learning than chasing ranking points. The loss of ranking points might make getting in to Roland Garros more difficult unless, of course, she does well in Morocco. And if she does do well it might decide her schedule for the next couple of months to do what she needs to, to be able to make and prepare for RG.
Just looking back, this thread was started in 2021, when Hannah was only 12
And I wrote:
"Anyway, she deserves a thread - this might be one that runs and runs"
Since then, it's been an amazing trajectory but she's still very young....
When she was at Reeds school, her coach used to be Ben Haran. She also had/has a private coach Alison Taylor. I think she's now at Wimbledon High School though and, I believe, trains at the NTC so not sure who is in charge of her coaching now.
However, on a side note, I was looking a little at the other members of her family
She has three older sisters
Alice Klugman was quite a serious tennis player, she was detected by th LTA, made the final of the HSBC Road to Wimbledon National 14 & Under Challenge, qualified for the Wimbly thingy that goes with it, made the press, had lesson with Tim, and was seriously thinking of going pro at one stage
However, she then went on to specialise in field hockey, and has played for lots of England junior National teams
Mary Klugman was also on the LTA radar as a tiddler but became a very good hockey player instead
Emma Klugman I know less about but I bet she can hit a ball too
And mum, Libby Klugman, apparently loves taking part in marathons and triathlons
I wonder if Mr Klugman just eats crisps on the sofa and watches Match of the Day?
Watched some clips on YouTube including the narrow loss to 14yr old Stusek. Looks to be quite tall for her age group which would help but seeing her beating multiple 17/18yr olds is very impressive. Pretty big serve already, should be massive in a year or two and the power position she gets on the forehand is something else.
