She was broken at the start of the second, broke back, went up *40-0, was hauled back to deuce with puff second serves being demolished with return winners, missed another game point, dreadful shot to go break point down, launches her racket, gets a time violation, broken.
1-2*
Given her reaction here I'd be inclined to expect this set to disappear rather quickly. But hopefully she can regain some focus.
My god what was that game from Mariam?! Hands the break to Emma with back to back doubles.
*6-5
Come on kid. Finish this and get out the heat.
Yes, utter shocker. Dreadful game.
But Emma looked reasonably comfortable. Never thought Mariam was going to win....
When Emma got behind a couple of times and looked affected by the heat I did get nervous I must admit, but soooo impressed how she got out of those holes. It was only the very end where she was really gifted by her opponent.
Jodie had points to win the first 5 games of the second set, but finds herself having to come out to play a third. Should have done better with the second serve return at 30-30* in the last game there.
6-3 4-6 *0-0
She can win this one if she stays steady and doesn't allow herself to get flustered or frustrated.
Yes, the second set was quite close but Stef looked pretty comfortable after the break, letting Jodie win her games and holding her own nicely.
Pretty 50:50 for the third, I'd say (but, from watching her from age 16 and being a big fan, I always expect Jodie JUST to lose.... it's best to be prepared - and it makes me VERY happy when things don't turn out like that so...... here goes.....)
