Girls: J1 Pancevo, Serbia, clay (Week 34)

Eva Shaw and Ranah Stoiber return to action after a week's break.  Eva plays a qualifier, who has won a lot of matches this year at a lower level, including one against Ranah. Eva is in the same quarter of the draw as top seed Ane Mintegi Del Olmo, the Wimbledon champion perhaps looking to play a junior tournament  before heading to the US Open, given the Canadian Open in the week prior has been downgraded to a Grade 3

R1 (L32)

(Q) Jovana Grujic (SRB) v Eva Shaw

(6) Anastasiia Gureva (RUS) v Ranah Akua Stoiber

Good win for Ranah over a top 100 player, but Eva sadly retired. The top seed surprisingly lost. Mingge Xu lost in qualifying but partners Ranah in the doubles.

Ranah Akua Stoiber d. (6) Anastasiia Gureva (RUS) 6-1 7-6(5)

Ranah follows up with her second ever win in a Grade 1 (the only other wins she has above Grade 3 were at Wimbledon) and plays another wildcard in the quarter-finals

R2

Ranah Akua Stoiber d. (WC) Fatma Idrizovic (SRB) 6-3 2-6 6-1

QF

Ranah Akua Stoiber v (WC) Dana Charintceva (RUS)

In the US Grade 1 there was a loss by retirement - here we have the upside. As a result Ranah has a grand slam last 16 and a Grade 1 semi in her 6 counting tournaments, which stick out by comparison with her Grade 3/4 counters. Her semi opponent looks to be stronger than the three players she has encountered so far, being top 50 with a Grade 1 final earlier in the year.

QF

Ranah Akua Stoiber d. (WC) Dana Charintceva (RUS) 6-1 1-0 rtd

SF

(4) Ksenia Zaytseva (RUS) v Ranah Akua Stoiber

Another good performance seemingly from Ranah, taking a set off the 4th seed, but Ranah's week ends here. As a result she should move into the top 150

(4) Ksenia Zaytseva (RUS) d. Ranah Akua Stoiber 6-1 4-6 6-3

Just to note that Ksenia took the title, very easily, winning her final 0 & 3
