Lost the 3rd set , but has just gone a break up in the 4th, so 5-3 up. Also Dan called for trainer, hip/thigh, but is carrying on, so may win it by next break, on MP as I type

Now says toe was problem cos he got it "stuck in the ground ", so hopefully that is a problem that has gone away.

Useful ( and looking even moreso now ) that Dan snared the seed 24 spot. If he was a seed from 25 to 32 he would have been bracketed for the L32 with a seed from 1 to 8, generallly quite a bit tougher and also more likely to actually reach that stage.

Looks like Dan's got a good chance at getting through to the last 16, which would be his best ever showing at flushing meadows.  He beat Alexei at Queen's club in the summer and Liam also got the better of Alexei more recently in Toronto qualifying.

And would equal his best ever slam and also be his best since Aussie 2017?

I see some Dutch guy ranked 117 or so has put out the 8th seed.

And the 16th seed has also lost.

15th seed retired too

This was following first round losses for the 9th seed, the 14th seed, the 27th, the 28th, the 20th and the 25th.

Seems quite a lot.....

I watched that Dutch guy against Berretini at Wimbledon. Very good player and is rising quickly in the rankings.

Yes, with 1.5 rounds played we have so far lost 5 of the top 16, seeds, with (8) Ruud and (9) Carreno Busta being the highest.

The carnage in seeds 17 to 32 is something else though. 10 are out ( all of these lost in R1 ! ) and 4 of the remaining 6 have still to play their R2 match. Just (24) Dan and (18) Bautista Agut into R3 yet.

In contrast to 15 men's seeds being out so far, just 5 women's seeds have lost plus 2 never made the starting line. So far the 21st seed is the highest to actually lose.

Dans got a great chance of the last 16 but Medvedev is sadly in his path and seems to be playing very well. Nonetheless, Dan would have taken last 16 beforehand Im sure, so hope he can make it!

Great that Dan's got into the last 16. Nothing to lose in his next match.

I've just watched Andy's interview, and just felt for him. I've never seen him that down and pissed off in a presser. I thought that he was very professional but honest in what he said. Was kinda annoyed that Titsy did it again next match and there are no repurcussions. I had no real sense of who he is, but now find myself disliking him. As Andy said, not good for him or the sport.

From the Titsy interview, he has a point - he didn't BREAK any rules. And as Andy said, the ATP need to move to make rules, but it's been talked about for years with no action.

I like the idea of the physio for the player left on court, just some incentive to stop all this unsporting behaviour less beneficial.
