The doubles win might be just the kind of confidence boost Murray needs before facing another young Canadian seed. Would love to see him win that one for sure. Yes Id agree that they have to be medal hopes. The French duo were after the career golden slam and the score looks really comfortable. Russel Fuller on five live described it as a razor sharp performance

In the Olympics where doubles is the equal of singles, I hope Andy doesnt actually prioritise singles and tire himself. This could be his best chance, with Joe, for sure.

Jamie and Neal play shortly.

I see Heather expressing shes wanting to play mixed and suggesting Joe is her most likely partner - again, in mixed, Joe and Heather would be a strong pairing.

The delayed Olympic games get underway on Friday, 23 July and the tennis event takes place from day 2 through to the following weekend at the Ariake Tennis Park in Tokyo, played on hard courts.

Men's and women's singles and doubles start on Saturday, with Andy Murray and Liam Broady representing Team GB in the men's singles and Heather Watson in women's. Neal Skupski and Jamie Murray will be seeded in the men's doubles, and Andy Murray will partner Joe Salisbury. Mixed doubles starts on Wednesday and pairings will be announced on site.

Gold medallists at the last Olympic Games in Rio, in 2016, are Andy Murray and Monica Puig in the singles, Marc Lopez and Rafael Nadal won the men's doubles, Ekaterina Makarova and Elena Vesnina in women's doubles, with Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Jack Sock in mixed doubles. Andy Murray and Bethanie Mattek-Sands (with a different partner) are the only players who can defend their titles.

Coverage of the entire Olympic Games is across Eurosport Player and Discovery+, same coverage on both platforms with all tennis matches in all rounds available live. Eurosport has seven linear channels, Eurosport 3-9, in addition to Eurosport 1 and 2, available on Sky, Virgin Media and BT TV platforms as well as on Discovery+ and for Eurosport subscribers through Amazon Prime Video. Eurosport 1 will be simulcast in 4K UHD on Sky Q and Virgin Media. Eurosport 1 will show the men's and women's singles bronze and gold medal matches on the weekend of 31 July and 1 August, with Adam Fielder, Miles Maclagan and Jo Durie on commentary. Eurosport 3 will focus mainly on tennis throughout the nine days of competition, with world feed commentary from Pete Odgers and Gigi Salmon.

The BBC has daily live coverage from the Olympic Games on BBC One, Two and the BBC Red Button, with coverage of all bronze and gold medal matches expected to be featured live, in the afternoon and evening highlights programmes and available on BBC iPlayer. Nick Lester and Sam Smith are the BBC's tennis commentators.

The tennis events start at 3:00 BST Saturday to Thursday, and from 4:00 BST on Friday, 30 July onwards.


That's definitely not what it sounded like the BBC were showing on the previous link I posted which is a real shame.

My son spent 3 weeks in Japan in 2015 at a scout jamboree. A week in Tokyo and then at the event. Crazy hot and humid place that time of year. He says he couldnt imagine doing sport at this level in those conditions .
