Nice one, Eva, who had a couple of mega long games at the start of the second, and got broken at least once, if not twice. But ended up with a comfortable win, 6-1 6-3
Isabelle Lacy is on court 17 which is on i-player/red button
She's only just 15, born 2006.
She's doing very well against someone with an 833 WTA ranking. I think she's frustrating her opponent because she gets nearly every ball back! Narrowly lost the first set in her last service game 5-7 but has broken in the second.
Isabelle takes the second with an ace. Quite impressed - despite her slight frame her groundstrokes have good weight and it doesn't look like she's throwing herself into them.
She's a good prospect from the *one* set I've seen.
To me, the best part of her shots are how fluid they are. It looks effortless. Which means she'll find it easier to add some extra arm speed or force as she grows.
Great staying power at the key parts in that second set.
I agree, for a 2006-er, who only came into the picture (in ITF terms) a month or so ago with the Stirling J5, it's terribly impressive. She's ranked 1646 basically based on one very lowly event.
I wonder if she didn't play ITF before because she can't afford to, or because she was doing Tennis Europe and wasn't fussed.
Im not sure affordability is the reason Isabelle didnt do more tennis Europe events. Her mother is Caroline Lacy, recent joined the LTA management team in April after being a Director at IMG tennis, not sure if she also shes to be a tennis player?
Her father, Tim Lacy, is an executive producer at IMG having previously covered media at Wimbledon as part of his role. Shes certainly got the tennis background and has been competing since mini tennis Although only recently seems to find her great form. Now trains at Dukes Meadows under Ali Filmer so on a great programme and pathway and probably explains her rapid improvement.
