The only way anyone else has a chance is if they break a leg mid match, play on and then win and even then I'd have to vote Emma, Hannah Klugman would need to win a WTA tournament not an itf CD.
Glad our suggestions made it a lot easier for POM and IMO haven't detracted anythng from the process or outcome.

I feel like in a normal slam, someone making a mens doubles final would get a nomination regardless of outcome , and adding a mixed semi to that for one of them is icing on the cake. One could add the title. As it wont jinx them, one has to win the title, Im going to take the pressure off them both (ha. As if) and nominate joe and Jamie.

September PoM Nominations - 5 to date

Millen Hurrion

Dan Evans

Emma Raducanu

Joe Salisbury

Jamie Murray

Phone call in New York around noon.

Leon : hey, Jamie/joe - good news before your final this pm. You can rest easy, youve been nominated for player of the month.
Jamie/Joe: wow, cool. That takes the pressure off and I can swing easy in the final
Leon: thought youd be pleased - of course , you wont win, Emma has it sewn up; but being nominated is the key.
Jamie/Joe: yeah, true, but still. Happy.

Or maybe not.

Jon. Just close the September nominations now as a fait accompli and open the October nominations early.  wink

I reckon that the September poll should be just for the runner-up spot.

Mind you, looks like Joe might have that sewn up as well, especially if he wins one or both titles.

Looks like Bob is right...........

Remember all, still 4 weeks of nominations to come, this months vote isn't all over - yet!!

Hmm I think it really is, just the runners up position up for grabs now.

 Yes, it really truly is

Hannah Klugman (born 2009) would have to win a 15k !

Which would be impossible, right? Minimum age is 14 for ITfs?

 Exactly biggrin

And, anyway, with Emma's continuing exploit, she'd now have to win a 25k

The show will go on! But I will devise a cunning plan to make it work better this month!

There's no reason to tweak it just because you don't like where it's going

Having a completely one-sided competition is just as fun as a close one (when there's a really good reason for it) - and far better than an artificially close one.

I think we should just soak up the Emma month and enjoy it

No, no - dont get me wrong, I wont plan to tweak the vote and am quite happy with where it is going - more in terms of making sure we get a winner and a runner up at the end of it!!

Realistically though, as I know how these things work, we will always get someone voting for another player than the clear favourite as folks have different ideas on how to select a PoM, so i suspect all will be good at the end!

And meanwhile, I will enjoy it!

If Emma was to get 100% of the vote simply then have a RU contest without Emma?

Though the downside (?) to that is that RU may effectively be decided by by one or two tactical votes in the initial vote.

I was thinking similar but the other way round. ie we accept the semi inevitable, do an initial vote among all the other candidates and the top 1 or 2 go to  a final with Emma. ie Emma gets a bye to the final in honour of reaching (or winning) a slam singles final.

We can make the rules up as we go so that felt like it might solve it and avoid a tactical vote with a weird runner up emerging

I don't think that will work. I suggest a normal vote then declare Emma the winner and have a 2nd vote with the next 2 or 3 to determine 2nd place. or just don't bother with the 1st vote, declare Emma winner and put everyone else in the vote for R/Up.  The previous 2 months had Emma win pretty comfortably and she didn't achieve half of what she has this season.
