out of interest, is one of the courts (or more) regarded as a show court of sorts? Looking at the OOP, it is very hard to tell - the Brits are spread around for sure and no court seems to have stronger/more attractive set of matches that I can see?

And if anyone is there, linked to above comment, do any have spectator seating or stands at all?

Court 11 is the one the BBC are showing so assume that is main one.

I thoght there were no spectators this year at qualifying?

im going 3 or maybe 4 out of the 8 to win - Ryan, Anton, Aidan for sure I favour; maybe Stuart. Felix and Jack PJ just dont see it, Arthur i dont fancy and Will will lose to Anton.

I will go with 4 and be positive

Thanks Seagull - that is probably correct, I havent been paying too much attention on spectating arrangements.

If COurt 11 is the main court, it has an ok draw, one Brit at least

I haven't been for years and when I did it was unintentional as I was there for something else but I don't recall there being stands, just walkways between courts so court 11 may be the streamed one simply because it's not possible to set up cameras anywhere else. Think Coup droit goes so will know better than me.

I seem to recall there was discussion of making it into more of a spectator event, is that when they develop the golf club land they have or are acquiring?

Court 11 has proper stands. There will probably be a fair few spectators like parents, coach, other players etc. I.e. people with official passes. And they might be quite generous with the passes.

Yes, emmsie. I'm hoping to get my head down, do all (well, some) of the work I've got to do, get ahead, and then stick the tennis on !

As an aside, the betting sites are very optimistic about the GB players chances. Now, I think they've got good R1 draws - pretty much as good as could be hoped for.

BUT the prevalence of British betting is on show once again. I defy anyone to show me any value (for the GB players) in the odds below:

Arthur v Gunneswaran - 2.1 v 1.66
Stu v Dudi 1.61 v 2.2
Ryan v Uchiyama 1.40 v 2.75
Jack PJ v Menezes 4 v 1.22
anton v will 1.04 v 13
Felix v Petrovic 2.37 v 1.53
Aidan v Dellien 1.44 v 2.62

I can certainly see tasty value in a little unpatriotic accumulator. I have a certain fourfold in mind.

Maybe not quite so tasty taking on board comments here and looking at the records of the opponents.

No idea how many we will get through to QR2 but it is a rather good draw overall.

I'll pass on having a bet and just wish our guys all the best.

Arthur's match is now pretty much 50/50 - ave odds of 1.89 vs 1.87 - www.tennisexplorer.com/match-detail/

My knowledge of men's tennis is pretty limited, and I'd never even heard of Menezes or Petrovic, but it's worth pointing out that Sela (0-9, first match of 2021, lost all 6 in 2020), Gunneswaran (0-7) and Uchiyama (0-7) have lost their last 23 matches combined between them, which is pretty incredible really, and will no doubt be influencing those optimistic looking odds, but whether it's still more of a case of 'levels', remains to be seen.

Absolutely. As said yesterday, they're great draws for our guys, I really don't think we could have asked for better.

BUT given the difference in rankings etc, I still don't think those odds give any value on betting on the GB lads.

I might be tempted to spin 10p on the peskies, and then sit back and root for the GB boys with all my might, and if they win I won't give a tiddlers that my 10ps are funding Mrs. Coates, but if they lose, I'll have faint comfort.

Yes but probably not until 11ish, I'm 10 miles East and it's drizzly right now

ETA just checked the BBC weather app for Roehampton and looks a bit better there so maybe they will start on time. I might get my Son to check his weather radar thingy
