... and it was a stated reward for winning these nationals in advance of the event.

Yep, me too. Not expecting any play. Looking out the window. It's wet. Forecast to stay wet. If we get one ball hit, it'll be one more than I'm expecting. Just hoping other areas of the country are a bit better.....

Yes, emmsie. I'm hoping to get my head down, do all (well, some) of the work I've got to do, get ahead, and then stick the tennis on !

As an aside, the betting sites are very optimistic about the GB players chances. Now, I think they've got good R1 draws - pretty much as good as could be hoped for.

BUT the prevalence of British betting is on show once again. I defy anyone to show me any value (for the GB players) in the odds below:

Thanks for the heads up on the weather, its dry but cloudy in Brum so I assumed it was better further south.i was preparing for a day red button watching, but you're saying we're unlikely to have much play.

I'm about 10 miles East of Roehampton, it's not a nice day. Supposed to slightly improve late afternoon. If you were really keen you might play recreationally on hard or clay but no way is grass playable right now.

Looks like Tuesday-Thursday should be dry. Maybe some rain on Friday, unsure if the 4 day schedule will fit into 3 and need a reserve day.
I would normally take the day off and go to the 1st day of qualifying glad I didn't waste annual leave to watch the rain! Hopefully it's not so wet next Monday when I have tickets, first time I'll have been to Wimbledon it self for about 10 years. Only been doing the qualifying lately find it a more enjoyable place.

I can certainly see tasty value in a little unpatriotic accumulator. I have a certain fourfold in mind.

out of interest, is one of the courts (or more) regarded as a show court of sorts? Looking at the OOP, it is very hard to tell - the Brits are spread around for sure and no court seems to have stronger/more attractive set of matches that I can see?

And if anyone is there, linked to above comment, do any have spectator seating or stands at all?

My knowledge of men's tennis is pretty limited, and I'd never even heard of Menezes or Petrovic, but it's worth pointing out that Sela (0-9, first match of 2021, lost all 6 in 2020), Gunneswaran (0-7) and Uchiyama (0-7) have lost their last 23 matches combined between them, which is pretty incredible really, and will no doubt be influencing those optimistic looking odds, but whether it's still more of a case of 'levels', remains to be seen.
