Beth looked quite upset. Might have been my slightly fuzzy stream but looked like she had a nasty bruise under her right eye? Did she take a ball there yesterday?

Such a shame. I suspect unless they'd been at their very best they would have struggled to make much impact (Ninomaya is a Wimbledon semifinalist), but never a nice way to end your week.

I wasn't certain, but it did look like a bruise - under her right eye.

Trainer has been busy. She was on for Tara who got her leg strapped, and now back on for their opponents!

I'm going to jinx this but I suspect Katie might retire if she loses this set.

Beth got hit hit the eye with a ball in practice this morning. Huge shame after yesterday's great win.

Oh no - who is aiming for the face in a practice session?! I didn't think it happened during the match so that makes sense. Thanks for the update, it looks sore and hope she will be ok for next week. Credit to her for giving it a go but rotten luck.

EDIT - Em posted on insta that when they were practising her backhand took a netcord and hit Beth. So that's really unfortunate, impressive she even went on court but absolutely right to stop if she couldn't see or focus properly.

That is one horrible looking knock. Credit to making it on court, hopefully some more matches to come over the next few weeks

Katie's QF opponent remains unknown. Lauren Davis vs Alison Riske was suspended overnight at one set all.
