On top of that there are quite a few challangers this week, Lyon, Bratislava, Almaty & Orlando. Almaty will also have a tournament the week after. The entry lists for these are going to be far lower. Players like Ryan Peniston should be aiming for these rather than just entering Nottingham which will have a stacked field and hoping for a WC. The temptation to play on home soil does sometimes seem a blinded one.

 im sure you are right - the entry lists for those other events are also up on darts rankings and show a list of similar strength to nottingham to be fair.

i guess a lot will shake out but at least it seems pretty certain that a - andy and liam will play nottingham b - tiafoe and anderson are the two main names apart from that and would seem likely to play, certainly anderson, assuming they dont go deep into paris, which seems very unlikely

looking ahead to paris, the juniors entries look like this;

www.itftennis.com/en/tournament/roland-garros-junior-championships/fra/2021/j-ga-fra-01a-2021/acceptance-list/

boys - jack pj and lui maxted direct, will nolan alt 22, derrick chen alt 36, joel pierleoni alt 92,

girls - matilda is a direct acceptance; amelia bissett is alt 22, jasmine conway alt 39,

not sure if they have qualies this year at rg and how likely those on the alts list are to play qualies or move up to da, they seem a long way down to my untutored eye

I notice that during this week there is a futures event in Italy on Grass! A bit north of Bologna.

Looks as thought the Italians are bending over backwards to give their players a leg-up in a way the LTA would apparently never never dream of doing!  no
