US College Signings and General College Chat 2021/22

It seems like our US college boys have been having a good few weeks in the pros .....

Alastair Gray leads the way with his brilliant 25k title, and two 25k dubs titles....

But Henry Patten has just beaten a top 700 player

And so has Finn Bass

And Dan Little beat a top 500 player

And Julian Cash has had some decent-ish results too

Keep going, lads !

Transfers and Fall 2022 signings

After 2 seasons at Baylor, Rahul Dhokia (UTR 12.76) is transferring and has verbally committed to @AggieMTEN for the fall of 2021 - Charlie B was playing #5 singles at Baylor, so guessing Rahul has been sat on the bench a lot and decided to transfer?

Oliver Tarvet (UTR 12.64) has verbally committed to @USDmtennis San Diego - nice part of the US weather wise!
and will join the Toreros in the fall of 2022. The 17-year-old has an ITF juniors career-high ranking of #189 and is ranked #3 in Great Britain's U18 rankings. Will Davis currently a senior having transferred from Iowa due to loss mens tennis

Giacomo Revelli (UTR 13.17) has signed with @uclatennis and will soon be joining the Bruins for this semester. The 19-year-old Brit has an ATP singles career-high ranking of #1855 and trained at Rome Tennis Academy.

So Alastair went on to take another 25k singles title, (and then made the QFs in a 25k)

And Henry Patten now has two 15k SFs, and still in the running, with some excellent results over well-ranked players.

And Dan Little also made the QFs of a 25k, beating a top-500 players

Charles Broom also beat a top-500 player and made a 15k QF.

Again, keep going, lads

With our former college players doing well in the pros (thanks for updates CD) wonder how our current student-athletes will fare in the upcoming IT all American?

The event will be held with 229 guys starting in the PreQs from 67 different schools with 25 of out the 30 D1 conferences represented. In the preQ, 60% of the players and schools are midmajors with the remaining 40% lower line or bench players from P5 schools and a couple Ivys. The top guys in the Prequalis are UTR 13.0

The greatest thing about preQualis is that most years 1-2 guys win 8 matches to reach the main draw. It takes 4 wins to get in Qualis and another 4 into MD. Unlikely a Brit will do a Raducanu and win from the quailes, but that would be an achievement biggrin

In the main draw are Hamish Stewart (Georgia), Connor Thompson (S Carolina), Arthur Fery(Stanford), Johannus Munday(Tennessee),

Main Draw alts: Toby Samuel (S Carolina), James Storey(S Carolina) and Josh Googer (Florida)

Quailes
Finn Murgett & Tad Maclean (Auburn), Finn Bass (Baylor), Matt Summer(Denver), David Stevenson &Oscar Cutting (Memphis), Chris Edge (Middle Tennessee), Samuel (S Carolina), James Storey(S Carolina) and Josh Googer (Florida) , Max Basing (Stanford),Lui Maxted (TCU), Emile Hudd (Tennessee), Ewan Lumseden (Washington).

Also a few Brits in the Pre-qualies where there are players from the lineup of mid to lower tier P5s-the teams  ranked 30ish to 50ish.

A few Brits and all Brits pairs  Stevenson/Cutting), Murgett/MaCleans, Summer/Daviesin the Doubles

Usaually only the main draw is streamed    http://streamingtennis.com/tulsa/

Hi EP- how do these events stack up in terms of importance and quality against the NCAA event that was held earlier this year? Are they the fall equivalent and as big? Also, are these indoors, where are they played ?

Thanks, Elegant Point.

I see in the pre-qualis (I think it is) that Joe Tyler got 2 wins and has his third match today.

Luke Hammond lost out.

The ITA Mens All-American Championships will take place in Tulsa, Oklahoma; October 2-10, 2021.

The event will be held at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center on the campus of the University of Tulsa and Case Tennis Center at LaFortune Park in Tulsa, Oklahoma.    Pre-Q: 2 & 3, Q: 4 & 5, MD: 6-10th Oct.

Fall season is all about the individual rather than the team. The event in May is predominately a team event followed by a more smaller draw (in comparison to Fall) number of singles and doubles .

Appologies seem to have surpassed my normal quota of typos and predictive changes in my last post hmm

Thanks CD. Josh Wilson (Liberty) also has another match today. Pretty sure he has been out for a long while due to injury

Sadly, the GB women all lost in qualies today cry Bronte went down 5-7 in the third, so a close one

Both our lads lost their FQR matches in the pre-qualis.

SO we're now onto qualis.

Toby Samuel won his QR1 match.

David Stevenson lost his, and so did Josh Goodger, Finn Murgett, Matthis Ross, Dan Siddall and Oscar Cutting.

As did Finn Bass and Emile Hudd, which is disappointing

In the all-GB match-up, though, between James Story and Max Basing, it was Max who came out on top

And Lui Maxted got a win too. And so did Tad Maclean. And Chris Edge.

Ewen Lumsden still to play...

Apologies to anyone I've missed.....
