Hey Bob! Good to hear from you! Hope your mortgage gets the extension you want. Look forward to your company back here at some point when you feel ready. All the best
Yes, Bob - fingers crossed for your mortgage and hope all goes well
PS I followed your rant on twitter about the Han**** and the 'why we didn't put India on the red list' nonsense. And the UK Govt. Dept. looking for someone to head up a 'could you please find some benefits to Brexit?' team. Not sure I really agree with Barisic re France though - I think that's all pretty unlikely (doesn't exist for other like countries) - however, I may be naive and they are pretty cross with the UK so all possible.....
Just a quick note to everyone to let you know I am doing OK. I haven't really watched any tennis or followed the scores for a while but other things are going a little better for me. Had my first jab today (Pfizer) with the 2nd one already scheduled for 8th June.
Just one big hurdle for me to overcome at the moment. During the pandemic I haven't received any assistance from the government but the bank did allow me to swap my mortgage to an Interest Only one, for 12 months. That expires at the end of this month. I am in negotiations to try and extend that for another 12 months. That would be a major relief for me. If I can get that off my mind, then I am going to try and switch back on to tennis again.
Hope everyone here is well. Thanks again for the public messages and the private ones. They are appreciated.
Good to see back on here Bob - albeit short lived - but at least watching Super Leeds will keep your spirits up. MOT
D-Day with the bank tomorrow morning. Appointment to see the manager at 10.30 to see if I can renegotiate. Fingers crossed everyone please.
On the plus side, got my second Pfizer jab today. Feeling fine.
With you Bob and well done re vaccine. I had my second AZ last week.
a contact of mine through church has started posting anti vaccine and anti lockdown messages and videos etc all over social media. I am so angry.
Good luck Bob hope everything goes well for you!!
WRT to Corona, unfortunately everyone is entitled to an opinion no matter how stupid and anti vaxxers are a money maker for social media companies
A new report by the Centre for Countering Digital Hate (CCDH) has lambasted social media companies for allowing the anti-vaccine movement to remain on their platforms. The report's authors noted that social media accounts held by so-called anti-vaxxers have increased their following by at least 7·8 million people since 2019. The decision to continue hosting known misinformation content and actors left online anti-vaxxers ready to pounce on the opportunity presented by coronavirus, stated the report. The CCDH warned that the growing anti-vaccine movement could undermine the roll-out of any future vaccine against COVID-19.
The report noted that 31 million people follow anti-vaccine groups on Facebook, with 17 million people subscribing to similar accounts on YouTube. The CCDH calculated that the anti-vaccine movement could realise US$1 billion in annual revenues for social media firms. As much as $989 million could accrue to Facebook and Instagram alone, largely from advertising targeting the 38·7 million followers of anti-vaccine accounts. Huge sums indeed, but it is worth noting that, in 2019, Facebook generated revenue of $70·7 billion.
Well, I have good news and bad news - although to be fair the good far outweighs the bad.
The are prepared to give me another year of Interest Only but to compensate, they want to put up the interest rate by 1%. Given that currently I am paying the grand price of 0.16% interest on my mortgage, I guess I can cope with 1.16%.
Breathing sighs of relief now. Just hoping to get the paperwork all sorted out so that I can sign at the notary before the end of the month, when the next payment is due.
