Other events, 2021 - week 4

Nairobi, J4:

In the girls' dubs QF:

Maria and partner won.

And Ananya+ def. Imogen+

SF: Maria+ def. Ananya+ 6-4 6-2

Meaning 13 year-old Maria Ustic, UNR, is now into the doubles final

In the boys singles SF, Oli Tarvet lost 5-7 4-6

In the doubles QF:

Oli+ defeated the top seeds 11-9 in the MTB but couldn't quite follow up in the semis and lost to the 7th seeds.

However, Roy Keegan and partner won their QF,

and then went onto win their SF.

S0 Roy, born 2005, is also into the doubles final.

So, Hep and Matt got nominated for PoM for winning and reaching final of a J4 last week in israel in doubles.

Maria (aged 13) is in the final here and Roy also is in a final , both in J4 level and in doubles.

I will leave that floating Mr Droit.

Yes, I know ..... but Matt's had a bit of a chequered history (and he'd also done pretty well the week before)

Definite nomination for either who win.

(And maybe otherwise too smile)

(NB I don't respond to Mr Droit - I am a gender neutral poster ! biggrin)

Noted - although I think you are a man from what I have read - or is that presumptious?

Yeh, well done, that young man

And to Maria, too - she's very young, must feel good.

Roy's story is interesting. As mentioned before, I'm rather unsure about his status as a GB player.

He's from Sligo, he's the Irish champion, the Irish tennis federation are always posting about him and so, although he moved to London last year, he's still basically Irish, as far as I can see.

However, as long as he has the GB flag next to his name on ITF, he's a Brit for the time being

He's currently being trained by Dan Evans' Mark Taylor, I believe.

There's an article from last month in the Sligo newspaper here:
