Shout out goes to Sonay who beat Stresnakova who's been mopping up wins left, right and centre in the UK events up till now.
And lovely to see Lauryn back playing on GB soil
Is anyone else like me, this has become a bit like the British Tour Premier level events, interesting but my engagement with it has lessened considerably now that Tour level tennis is taking most attention
Yeah, I was one of the regular posters on the threads, especially the first year, but a lot less interest now. I thought it was really good in that July 2020 period when a lot of sports still weren't back up, and it was something nice to watch, especially when on furlough for a couple of months, but it's far lower down the pecking order now, especially with being back in the office, making it tougher to watch the day time matches. I will still check scores, mainly to see how the youngsters are getting on, and I did actually try and load up a YT stream yesterday, but couldn't find it for some reason, but wasn't too disappointed.
To be honest though, I've a lot less interest in the ITF circuit now as well, and while I'm aware it generally goes against the sprit of the board, if I don't think a player has a circa top 250 ceiling, like grand slam quals / back end of WTA quals level, or at least bigger ITF events, then I will pay a lot less attention now as well, but at the same time, my general interest in tennis, especially at the top end, has probably never been higher, and I've got a few half days booked off over the next couple of weeks specifically for the US Open.
Thats good to hear. and tends to gel with me as well, albeit my interest is really on ATP, mens Challenger and Slam qualies level players in GB plus generally the top level of the mens game. I try so very hard but just cant get any real interest in the womens beyond a passing interest and a desire to see our top 200 or so men do well and rise up the ranks.
It helps a lot when your fave player continues to have a relatively excellent season, plus Emma has been fantastic to follow these past couple of weeks from a British perspective, albeit mainly on betting streams, and will hopefully provide further excitement before the year end.
Not a name I am familiar with, but a google search suggests that she is 25, hasn't played at ITF level since 2016, and is a teaching assistant and coach in Padstow.
It's not a great sign if those on here are losing interest. If that's the case, then bar friends and family, it's hard to see many tuning in.
I see Danielle pulled off an upset vs Jasmine the other day, but while I don't know how people have been playing, I think it's hard to see past a Sonay vs Katarina rematch in the final.

The Friday all seems about the play off places , which seems a mistake as folks really want to follow the best and that gap between quarter finals and semi finals day breeds disinterest. Bad marketing.
feel this event May struggle beyond this year- but lets see.
