The media company responsible for this event look like some pretty serious guys who used to work for IMG - they have already secured Dunlop and Highland Spring as sponsors. Presumably the deal with BT Sport, whether there is much money involved, is actually hugely beneficial to the event to attract other sponsors. I also wonder if betting rights, especially in-play betting is contributing towards the huge prize pot, which is fairly unusual for this type of level.
No entry update on their website as of yet. Nadia Rawson did confirm on Twitter the other day that she has entered.
It looks like they are showing the matches on their website, so another option there, and even better, I was looking at the TV guide and next Saturday BT Sport 3 are covering it in full - 12 hours, so that's great exposure for them. I assume Sunday will likely be the same (but I can't see that far ahead yet).
No exams this year either, her teachers will probably just give her straight A*.
Interesting. Is that how it works then? The teachers just giving out straight A*s ? I thought they used some criteria like a combination of online assessments, mock results etc.
Not a bad list from a women's perspective. Perhaps a shame there wasn't one or two top 500 players, like say a Maia, or one or two more promising junior players, but possibly better than I was expecting, all in all. I've definitely seen Kylie's name mentioned on here, like in the BT thread, but can't really remember what her results were like, but there's definitely a notable lack of traditional 0-6ers, so overall it should be a pretty competitive field, and most matches should matter. Interesting to see Ella T back after a while.
I was looking at this earlier and trying to work out what sort of threshold of points would be enough to get into the top 9. I settled on the idea maybe 50 should/could be enough?

Id think lower, maybe if someone average 5 or so per event, theyd get in, 40, but cant see many players playing 8 weeks , maybe 6 or 5. Im going to reckon mid 30s to get in. Lets see
A bit tough on those who were injured. As an example, Mason Recci won only one match has now has 5 points. Luke Johnson won 2 matches but has zero.
Edit
CD beat me by a few seconds, to say much the same.

Yeah, they can't be giving all the previous (withdrawn) guy's points to the new replacement guy, because otherwise Tom Hands would have all Andy Watson's points, no???
So, how does it work?
(Max Basing isn't there either but he didn't get a win, although he did win one set)

Does seem unfair I agree. clearly just gone on final positions. You could get a place As a replacement directly into the final and pick up 18 points with a final walkover. Or so it seems?
