Beth scrapes through, saving several match points, winning 11-9 in the MTB.
Feel a little sorry for Emily Appleton. But didn't see enough to get a feel for the match.
Jay really has something to think about after his match too. Very happy he got the win, he needed that, I expect - but he was SO close to losing it, and was often on the back foot when he shouldn't have been.
I watched the whole of Beth v Emily. Emily was well otplayed in the first set, only her serve saving her from a worst score. Beth started making a string of unforced errors in the second set, and gave away the decisive break to love at 4-4. Not a lot in it really oerall, could have gone either way in the MTB with Emily leadng most of the way.
Thanks, the addict.
Yes, Emily App has a very good serve, well above her general level, really.
Sounds as though Beth sort of deserved it overall.
Freya was a little unlucky, rough line call right at the end. But she escaped by a whisker yesterday. And you can't quite expect miracles every time.
Henry P despatches Julian Cash in 2 sets, it means George Houghton has to win in 2 sets against Henry to have any chance of qualifying and stopping Julian and Henry being the qualifiers from this Group D.
Pool A
If Jay wins, he will top the group with Giles 2nd. If Josh wins in 3 sets, it is a 3 way tie and games countback; if Josh wins in 2 sets, he and Giles are through and Jay is out. Giles looks in best shape but isnt certain
Pool B
Anton and James are through, play off tomorrow
Pool C
Billy is through. Charlie needs to get 1 set versus Dan Cox tomorrow and will join him; if he doesnt get one set, Dan goes through with Billy
Pool D
Basically unless George wins in straight sets against Henry, Henry and Julian are through. If it is straight sets, it is a 3 way tie and game count back

And Henry takes that opening set and as a consequence will top the group with Julian also going through.
In Pool A, Josh Paris took the first set against Jay. So it is now Giles 3, Jay 2, Josh 2; Jay is leading the second set and it is getting very interesting in a group we probably all expected Jay to win at a canter.
Does anyone know what happens if there is a tie with players on 3 points at end of league standings? I imagine a 2 way tie is just down to H2H. But a 3 way tie must go back to games countback as by its nature they will all be equal on sets? And does an MTB count as 1 game or do they count the points won as equal to games? I cant find it anywhere on the website to see that explained!
