UK Pro Series

Enjoyed watching a little bit of Lauryn JB.

Always liked her athletic game. And her Hackney parks tennis background.

Was pleased she went to the US. Would be nice for her to give it a go now.

Early results in

Anton beat Sean Hodkin in 2 sets
Giles Hussey won a MTB 3 setter versus Josh Paris

Emily Appleton beat Nadia Rawson in 2 sets
Sonay Kartal beat Eliz Maloney in 2 sets - against seedings but not against rankings.

So no upsets there from a WR perspective I dont think.

Billy Harris and Julian Cash also won in 2 sets.

The Shrewsbury Club always put on a good show for both spectators and players. This year there are several social events including a pro-am. I've gone to the event and am staying locally. Really looking forward to spectating but extremely disappointed that only one of the two courts is visible.  A very strange and sad decision.

Ridiculous decision ! I'd be really miffed.

I saw the last little bit of Freya, going 5-9 down (I think) in the MTB, and coming all the way back to take it, against Emma Wilson.

Today has all the top seeds on the main court: Jay, Lily, Eden and then Dino. Should be a decent days watching for anyone going along.

And Charlie Broom and Henry Patten get going after a red eye from the States, interesting to see if they can maintain their form

Good matches in prospect with Eden WR462  v Lauryn and Lily WR215 v Freya WR628, but the best women's match could well be Emily WR841 v Beth WR406, which is on Court 2. And there's Biilly ...

Let's face it, all the matches look good !

It seems the finals on Sunday are on Freesports rather than BT Sport, wouldn't be surprised if the latter drop it altogether next year (if it's still running).

Do we know what the break down is this year on the prize money? I think I read that it is £57.5k for each draw. So a rough calculation it might be something like

1. 15 000
2. 9000
3. 6500
4. 5000

5. 4500
6. 4000
7. 3500
8. 3000

9. 2500
10. 2000
11. 1500
12. 1000

I can see them mention £750k total money across both draws, which is £375k per draw and £37.5k per week average - given the Finals are the bigger event, your £57.5k would seem to be roughly where I would expect it to be. £630k over 9 weeks would make it £35k per event per qualifying week, leaving £120,000 or £60k per event for the finals...

Enjoyed the end of Charlie v Billy

After Billy ground out yesterday's win, he now gets pipped 8-10 in the MTB against Charlie.

Charlie Broom won a 10-8 MTB over Billy Harris and that is a good win after his weekend trip back from the USA. Billy actually guarantees a qf spot with that point, he heads Group C with 4, Charlie on 2 and Dan Cox on 0 and needing a straight sets win over Broom to get through

Meanwhile, Jay took the opener over Giles Hussey 6-2 but is in a tie break second set

Just caught the end of the Billy - Charles match. Billy ahead twice in the mtb couldn't stay there. Charles then got ahead and had 3 match points first two on Billys server which he served well but then a good point won it.
Billy p2 4 points
Charles p1 2 points
Dan p1 0 points

Assuming it goes on H2H any sort of Charles win over Dan would put him through a Dan win and Billy is into the final 4.

Id love it if they could do a UK Nationals of some sort - maybe the top 8 players get through to a last 16 and are joined by 8 players who qualify from the next 32 listed - so a 40 draw field in total.

Itll never happen but feels like it could, even if Cam, Dan, Emma, Jo etc dont enter it.
