And the mens

Eden, Beth and Katie Swan get the wild cards, Jay, Dino and Giles Hussey in the mens

Not surprised Giles got a WC. Only player in either draw to not qualify for finals week but get a win during one of the qualifying weeks.

Draws are out for this weeks finals

ukproleague.com/finalsweek/

Katie Swan has pulled out and replaced as top seed by Lily Miyazaki it seems. Would that make sense ranking wise? Shes top of Pool A .

Looks like opening day matches are mainly 2 v 3 seeded players in each of the pools?

The pool tables seem to be based on the league placings rather than rankings. Lily is indeed the highest ranked player overall, but if you look at Pool D there is Emily Appleton WR837 at #1 and Beth Grey WR437 at #3.
And it's only the first two pools that have 2 v 3, the other two are 1 v 2

In the mens Jay is at top of pool a and James ward pool B and then league winner Julian cash is top of pool d as is Emily in the womens. So they seem to have followed a mix of top ranked players and then league standings. James Ward actually clashes with anton which is a big pool match to have!

Has Lily ever played in the Pro League before?

According to the review on their website, the top 2 seeds in each of mens and womes came from WOrld rankings (Jay/ Wardy/ Lily/Eden) and the 3rd and 4th seeds came from top 2 in League tables (Julian/Billy/Emily and Eliz).

Slightly odd scheduling today. Play starts at 13:00, and the matches are scheduled at 2 hour intervals on court 1, with Freya v Emma at 19:00. Court 2 though has the matches schedules at 1.5 hour intervals.

They have sold tickets havent they - does anyone plan to attend? Presumably you get an at large ticket so can watch both courts?

The entry is that level better this week so I must admit I have much more general interest in this weeks proceedings

Spectators can only watch matches on the show court.

ok, thanks Lambda - any idea what sort of crowds they are expecting? I typical ITF event in the UK gets only a handful of spectators and apart from one or two players that stand out above that, this is really just an ITF level entry - but it has had more publicity so I assume they are expecting a reasonable crowd - I was guessing maybe 100 a day, but that might be optimistic!!

Tickets are only £5 a day, rising to £7.50 at the weekend for sem-finals and finals (plus £1 booking fee). There's also a week-long pass.

Hopefully there will be enough interest. I don't expect there to be very many there today, but will look at the stream and see !

Don't know how Sonay and Eliz can play with the volume of the music and PA coming from the other court

Early results in

Anton beat Sean Hodkin in 2 sets
Giles Hussey won a MTB 3 setter versus Josh Paris

Emily Appleton beat Nadia Rawson in 2 sets
Sonay Kartal beat Eliz Maloney in 2 sets - against seedings but not against rankings.

So no upsets there from a WR perspective I dont think.
