UK Pro Series

Friday results

5-8th:- Danielle Daley def Summer Colling 6-0 6-0
5-8th:- Nadia Rawson def Hannah Smith 6-2 6-2

9-12th:- Eliz Maloney def Lucy Brown 6-2 6-2
9-12th:- Abigail Amos def Jada Okoye 6-1 6-0

I watched Eliz v Lucy, and it was very competitive, not reflected in the score. Many of the games went to deuce, and it was the break points that made the difference. Eliz took 5/10 and Lucy 1/8

Saturday order of play (from sofacore as UK PRo website not updated yet)

SF1:- Katie Stresnakova v Holly Hutchinson

SF:- Emma Wilson v Lauryn John-Baptiste

9th-12th:- Eliz Maloney v Abigail Amos

7th-8th:- Summer Colling v Hannah Smith

9th-12th Lucy Brown v Jada Okoye

Danielle v Nadia not showing at present - presumably this will be played on Sunday

Edit:- order of matches updated

Regardless of todays final, Julian Cash has topped the league table, well done to him. Josh Paris can get second spot ahead of Billy Harris if he wins the final today.

Interesting stuff. I tuned in at 4-1 in the second set of the final, so don't really know how the match went, but was surprised when it was over, there was no obvious injury to end it there and then.

Yep, looks like they are tied on 42 points. I guess the fairest way would be to get rid of the WC and let both in, but if they have a WC lined up, then it'll be interesting to see who gets in, unless there were already some pre planned permutations. Danielle has scored points at 8 of the 9 regular weeks, so you could argue she's a stalwart, but then has only been scoring 5 or 6 points on average, whereas LJB has only played 3 weeks, and has won two of them, so from a competition perspective, it will be far better if she makes it.

Or 9th and 10th ;)

I think it's better that success seems to have triumphed over participation, and Lauryn would have definitely been a worthy WC had she ended up in 10th. Interesting to see what happens to that final spot.

Stresnakova had called the physio on at the end of 1st set to get some medical help for her abdomen / side , so whatever it was might have flared up during the second set. Hope she's better for the finals

Thanks, yeah, I didn't have much to go on, but she obviously mustn't have been feeling great as she was still in a half decent position given the much shorter deciding set, should it have went that far. I have just read on TF that Katie was also part of a BUCS weekend at the NTC, so it was a busy week for her, and yeah, she's been a good addition this past year, so hopefully she is fine.

It was a bit odd seeing men in masks and latex gloves rubbing cream around Katie's middle, almost like some bizarre MTO fetish.
