Skupski Bros.

Word is on Harri Heliovaara's blog that Neal & Wes are splitting up for next year, with Wes partnering Mektic. Apparently Neal's partner as yet unknown.

Presumably Wes instigated this, as he has Mektic lined up? Before Wes and Neal got together , though, Wes had won the 2020 Tour Finals (in that Covid hit season) and nothing else of note; after Neal and Wes got together, they won 3 masters titles in 2022 and Wimbledon this year. Maybe 2023 hasnt been the best year, but for both of them theyve won more together than they ever did individually before hand.

Be careful what you ask for, Wes!

I dont think Ill ever understand the merry go round that is Doubles partners. Win a Grand Slam, both ranked in the top 5 then change to someone ranked outside the top 40.

On the other hand Mektic is a former number 1. His ranking has only plummeted since he split with Pavic (1000 points off this week alone) That was another very strange decision.

Mektic is playing with Julian next week in Sofia, unless plans change of course!

Do we have any word on Lloyd's new partner? He is playing with Peers in Metz but maybe Neal is a possible?

Lloyd has jumped around a bit the last month or so. Not really had much form. For Neal, it would lower his entry ranking a fair bit to team with Lloyd, Lloyd of course would gain. I wondered about Neal with Peers as an option.

julian doesnt seem to have landed on a partner yet. Henry has played with Cabral in a couple now but not sure its longevity. Could Joe be in the market also when we see what he and Rajeev plan. 5 Brits could be on the hunt for partners !

Its a quite interesting situation. Sometimes in a lead up to the Olympics , players may try to partner with someone from their own country to maximise their chance of getting a medal.

I think there were suggestions that Mahut would possibly retire after the paris Olympics.
