(or maybe you consider the 1T differently? I think a 1 is a 1, no? i.e. there's no one above him so he's 1)

 Oooh. This is esoteric! Haha. so if youre ranked equal 10 would you be described as top 10 in the world or are you top 11? So is equal 1 top 1 in the world or are you top 2! 

just kidding - main thing is he is now number 1 in the world and may well have been for the past 6 weeks or so!

 Comes up every so often when there are discussions about what constitutes top 10, top 100 etc.

Goes back some time ago now to a classic exchange of tweets between Tara and Steven when Tara got to WR 200 and was disappointed she hadn't quite made the top 200. Then followed Steven's efforts to convince her that she really was in the top 200 despite not having a ranking starting with a "1".

 Haha - 200 is definitely top 200. like 1 is defonitely top 1; and 1T is definitely not top 1 as by definition it is 1 of 2 or more!

You're the top, no one is better than you, that's top, and that's why you've got a '1'

It's like a shared gold medal - you've both won a gold medal, nobody's won a half-gold, half-silver medal
